i'm singing "Out Tonight": for my school talent show, and since theres no way to get the original RENT music without the words I looked around for another way I can sing my beautiful song. I stumbled across this beautiful book, and was ecstatic when I recieved it today. True, it would be nice to sing it the way the original Mimi did, but this should work. To the people who said the rock songs don't do well on the paino, maybe your just not experienced enough yet? my music teacher will be accompanying me on the paino, so I think it will work out and not sound "stupid" as somebody put it. I wish I could learn to play the piano so I can play these for myself but i'll just have to wait for my musci teacher to. In one of the reviews, soemone said that they have a friend whos life long goal is to be Mark Cohen, well my own life long goal is to play Mimi Marquez LOL. I just got this book today. It is really fun to play piano and guitar and sing along with. While I agree that some songs like Out Tonight and Rent sound pretty strange, how did one expect them to sound? There is pretty much no way a book could turn those songs into how they sound on the CD and stage. Your Eyes and Halloween translate very well to the piano and so does Without You. In fact, most of the songs sound very good. Guitar chords are included with fingerings to make it easier, and there are 2 pages of pictures. I really like this and I think anyone who wants to audition with a song from Rent should get this. songs included: another day/ halloween/ i'll cover you/ one song glory/ out tonight/ rent/ santa fe/ seasons of love/ take me or leave me/ what you own/ without you/ your eyes/Book Review: Rent is the best!

The piano/vocal selections from "Rent" are the best. Okay, so they don't sound EXACTLY like the recording, but nothing's perfect. All of my favorite songs are in the book, and most of them work well on piano. Some of the rhythm patterns in the rock songs (like "Rent", "Out Tonight", and "What You Own") may be and should be altered so it would sound right on the piano. Songs like "Halloween" and "Another Day" are transcribed perfectly. All of the songs are great and there are cool pictures in the front of the book too.Book Review: it's awesome

I"m gonna sing "What u own" with a friend of mine, and it's awesome,a nd even though some songs don't really work out w/ piano, i think it'l be awesome!!! I might be singing Another Day , too, with another friend of mine, and thsat's awesome too!! Let em put it this way, my friends and i sing to have fun, so, i will gat a lot of use outa this and my other books!!!Book Review: Rent is the best play ever!!!!

WOW! That is hat I have to say about this play! The vocal book has all of my favorite songs in it! I loved the pictures in the front also! I really liked the one where it shows Rodger lighting Mimi's candle! hey i know someone who's life long goal is to be Mark Cohen so I know plenty about this play and love every part! NO DAY BUT TODAY!!!!!!!
