Book Reviews of Renegade: The Making of a PresidentBook Review: Inspiring Summary: 5 Stars
I thought that this book was going to be a documentation of Obama's campaign. It was that but it was also one of the most inspirational books that I've ever read. Although I was always an Obama fan, I never truly realized the scope of his philosophy and how he learned on the job so to speak. The book was really, really good and very well written. I liked the bouncing back and forth between the campaign and Obama's life. I realized how truly lucky we are to have him as President now.
Book Review: Highly Recommended Summary: 5 Stars
I thoroughly enjoyed reading Renegade. I have read President Obama's books, and I followed the campaign closely so I did not expect to learn much that I had not heard. I learned a lot. It was definitely a behind the scenes look.
I liked the fact it was not strictly chronological. Chapters discuss aspects of the campaign in a way I found very interesting.
I have bought it as a gift and would recommend it to anyone with any interest in politics, the election or President Obama.
Book Review: A great read for fans of the President Summary: 5 Stars
An excellent view of the inside workings of an historical campaign for the Presidency. Richard Wolffe's insights into the challenges the campaign faced over two years are facinating, and remind the reader that President Obama started out as a long-shot against the heavily-favored Hillary Clinton. The book also gives an excellent perspective of the President's personality and the key advisors who helped him win. Fans of the President will no doubt greatly enjoy this book.
Book Review: Best inside look at the Obama journey Summary: 5 Stars
This book completely captures all of the behind-the-scenes moments of the 2+ year Obama journey to the Presidency. No one could have captured this as well as Wolffe. He gets right in there with the candidate and his team. We learn very quickly about the most pivotal moments in the campaign and see once again, how it could have fallen apart at various moments. The book is an exciting read and even quite emotional at times. I highly recommend the read.
Book Review: A fun insider's account of an amazing election Summary: 5 Stars
I really had fun reliving the election, learning more about what went on in the campaign, and sharing some of the most interesting or funny anecdotes with my family. I think Wolffe did a great job making the book accessible without dumbing it down at all. It assumed an intelligent audience, but it wasn't dry. It must have been pretty amazing to be so close to such an historic campaign and he successfully brought the reader along with him.
