Book Reviews of Renegade: The Making of a PresidentBook Review: Reviews should be about the book, not its price Summary: 5 Stars
I'm getting really annoyed by reviewers who only complain about the cost and don't review the book itself. If you don't like Amazon's Kindle pricing practices, buy the hardcover. It seems to me if you could afford several hundred dollars for the Kindle itself, you can probably afford the cost of the book, even if it is a couple dollars more than the usual Kindle price.
It's not right for people to drag down the average rating for a book simply because they don't like the price. If people rated cars with this same approach, a cheap and badly built subcompact would have a higher rating than a Porsche. If you can't afford it, don't buy it, but don't downgrade the product itself. If you don't like Amazon's pricing policy, email them and complain about it.
Book Review: Undoubtedly Destined for "Classic" Summary: 5 Stars
Well written. That's always going to be the first thing that grabs my attention in a political book. Not familiar with Richard Wolffe? You'll be pleasantly surprised. You'll likely find yourself moving through the pages with ease, enjoying the skilful & stylish written word teeming with content you might be famililar with but with the added insight of a true "beat" reporter and political analyst. He brings a bit of a different edge to the campaign. Something, and maybe it's his British roots, allows an honesty and common sense that feels unblemished. Nothing like a true intellectual with insider access writing about a man of our age and for the ages.
I think this one will be on the shelves of Libraries for many, many years to come. Timeless.
Book Review: Renegade Summary: 5 Stars
Renegade is a book that I intend to keep for my grandchildren to read some day. Richard Wolffe has done a wonderful job of describing the historic Presidential campaign of Barack Obama. The story was presented in a unique fashion that created excitement even though the outcome was clearly part of the public record. Being able to see behind the scenes when important decisions were taken and being a witness to the daily activities for 21 months gave the author a unique ability to tell the story. You will learn a great deal by reading this account of the campaign. This is just a great book, you will enjoy it even though you may have followed the campaign in every detail as I did.
Book Review: The Campaign BEHIND The 2008 Presidential Campaign Summary: 5 Stars
Having watched the events as they actually unfolded, I did not expect to be so moved by RENEGADE -- but even in the era of the 24/7 news cycle, there are still nuggets which don't surface until after the fact. They're all here.
Exemplary reporting and graceful writing do not always walk hand-in-hand -- and from my own journalistic experience, I know how difficult it is not to "fall in love" with a compelling subject. Mr. Wolffe does a superb job of placing you, the reader, in the position of the proverbial fly-on-the-wall ... and succeeds mightily in answering the question on so many people's minds: "Who Is Barack Obama?"
Book Review: Man... I realize $2.88 is a lot of money in this economy, but come on... Summary: 5 Stars
Everyone is so upset about the Kindle price for this book and are giving it a one star review even though they say they will not buy the book, and therefore, I can only assume, have not read the book. J/C, get over it. Either pay the extra $2.88 and read the book, then review it. Or buy the hardcover, read the book, then review it. If you don't want to pay close to the hardcover price for the digital version, then just do what people have been doing for hundreds of years and buy the freaking book.
I for one, finished the book yesterday and found it to be detailed insightful and full of good information.
