Book Reviews of Remember Me?

Book Review: You'll Love Lexi
Summary: 5 Stars

One minute Lexi Smart is standing in the rain in boots that are too small trying to hail a cab after being stood up by Loser Dave and the next thing she knows she's waking up in the hospital with a killer headache and a killer, drop dead gorgeous husband and she can't remember any of it. Has she woken into an alternate universe? Now Lexi has to try and remember the life she can't imagine herself having. In other words she has to come to terms with the fact that she is wealthy, has a great job, carries designer bags and has a new set of friends she cannot understand. And then she meets her husband's co-worker Jon and there is a glimmer of recognition but only a glimmer. Is she ever going to get her memory back and when exactly will she feel like she's wearing the right life and not a pinching too small a boot life?

Ms. Kinsella has done it again. I can honestly say I'm not a huge fan of chick-lit but Ms. Kinsella is an author I'll automatically pick up. REMEMBER ME does not offer a new storyline but the author makes it fresh and entertaining with her use of characterization and her trademark wit. Lexi is a larger than life character and the reader will be engaged from the first page. There are plenty of laughs out loud moments; times where you sigh with understanding and you might just tear up a time or two as well. For a page-turning good time look no further.

Book Review: Define a perfect life...
Summary: 5 Stars

Any chick lit book requires some sort fo suspension of disbelief. Once you're able to do that - Sophie Kinsella's books are some of the best out there, and she's my personal favorite.

The first chapter describes the miserable life of 25 years old Lexi Smart, who has a lousy job, a boyfriend who stood her up once again, and her dad just died. On her way home from a night out with the girls, she gets hit with a car - and wakes up in the hospital as a 28 year old.

To her surprise - her 28 years old self has everything she had ever wished to have: lots of money, a great job, a handsome & caring husband (with loser Dave out of sight), the perfect home, and she somehow has a perfect figure, a perfect smile and designer clothes and bag.

But slowly she discovers that on the way to the perfect life, she lost the best part of her old life - especially her old friends (which she alienated on her climb up the corporate ladder), some of her values such as loyalty and love...

While the book is definitelly a fluffy, fun book - it does manage to examine what makes up a 'perfect' life, and whether uts worth the price we pay for it...

Book Review: Perfect blend of mystery, suspense, laughter, and romance
Summary: 5 Stars

The story draws you in within the first chapter as you join the life of the main character who has amnesia. You meet her husband whom she doesn't remember, her home where there is nothing of hers around, which starts you wondering if he really is her husband. Then his behavior makes you scared for her, as she tries to fit into his perfect mold. You cringe as you join her going back to the office, with her career, that as steps back into she realizes that things aren't as she thought she left them.

Her world is turned upside down, she is vunerable and doesn't know who to trust or whom to turn to. Every page endears you to the life she finds herself in.

A definite page turner that I couldn't put down and when I would have to, I couldn't wait to pick it back up again to see how things were playing out, whom she was starting to trust, had she learned the truth about her past, could she see through the haze, fix the past wrongs, could she put her life back together and be where she really belonged??

Book Review: Quick Read! Lots of fun! My favorite by Kinsella!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have read many Shopaholic books, Can You Keep a Secret?, Undomestic Goddess, and a few of her books written under "Madeleine Wickham." Remember Me? is my favorite so far!

At first, I thought the plot would be the same as many chick lit novels-- business woman must find her way to work to the top, fall in love and restore her life. All of these things happen, but it is told in such an unusual, insightful way. Throughout the book, the main character, Lexi, is trying to piece together her life through clues from her friends and family members. However, these friends and family members are not always truthful and often leave out important details. It was so much fun to read a novel where you are figuring out the plot just like the main character is. You feel completely lost, just like Lexi does when she wakes up in the hospital with amnesia.

I read this book in just one day. It was so much fun! I often get tired of chick-lit, but this one was different and a great read!

Book Review: LOOOVE MS. KINSELLA
Summary: 5 Stars

She does it again. Sophie Kinsella writes another compulsive page turner. If you've read any of her other books, you know the drill. Young, pretty girl finds herself way over her head in a situation she knows nothing about. Things will get much worse before they get better, and a happy ending is guaranteed. Whether it's obsessive shopping, pretending to be a housekeeper, or spilling secrets to a stranger on a plane, who turns out to be her new boss, these books all follow the same path. Here, main character Lexi, wakes up in the hospital after being knocked unconcious for a few days. Her last memory takes place in 2004, but it is now 2007 in the book. She finds her life is completely changed and has to figure out how she did it, and how to deal with it. Hilarity ensues. Already waiting with baited breath for the next one.
