Book Reviews of RedemptionBook Review: Beautiful.... Summary: 5 Stars
Lisa Taylor Mallory is willing to do anything to get back her kidnapped son, Jamie. Anything, including relying on Ethan Caine. Ethan's reputation leaves Lisa cringing at the thought of depending on such a disreputable man, but her brother, Josh, insists Ethan is their only chance. Jamie has been gone for over three months and there has been no word since the ransom was delivered. Josh insists Ethan is the only man for the job as some of the details of the kidnapping worry him, such as Lisa being shot during the drop. Will Ethan find Jamie dead or alive? And just what is the reason behind the kidnapping?
What a thriller! Judith Rochelle keeps readers on the edge of their seats, anxiously waiting to see what will happen. You can feel Lisa's fear and nervousness actually permeating the pages as she waits, desperately hoping against hope that Jamie is alive.
REDEMPTION is one of Judith Rochelle's finest works to date, particularly in the area of character development. Lisa's pain as a mother is easy to understand but it is the depth given to Ethan that is extraordinary. Our first glimpses of Ethan are not impressive, as he appears to be nothing more than a drunken, burned out bum with a very shady past. Ms. Rochelle does a fabulous job at not only making Ethan likeable, but making him heroic as well. Lisa's determination to find her son and her survival after the years of abuse under Jamie's father, Charles, are also admirable. I couldn't help but cheer for Lisa as she continues to fight against seemingly insurmountable odds.
REDEMPTION is aptly named. Judith Rochelle has written a beautiful story that truly strikes at the heart of what REDEMPTION is all about. The storyline does have some difficult moments as Ms. Rochelle tackles some very sensitive and delicate issues. Readers looking for a very satisfying and fulfilling read will appreciate this story in which love is the ultimate REDEMPTION of all.
