Book Reviews of Red Ranger Came CallingBook Review: One of the most magically wonderful books ever written!!!! Summary: 5 Stars
After reading "The Polar Express" by Chris Van Allsburg, I didn't think I would ever find a more enjoyable storybook. I was wrong. This one ranks along side "Polar..." as one of the greatest storybooks ever - and not only among Christmas stories. The emotions expressed by the children and adults to whom I have read this book are absolutely fantatstic. If you make it through this book without belly-laughing one minute and crying the next, you just aren't alive!!! If you read any storybook in your entire life for pure enjoyment, READ THIS ONE!!!!!!! If it ever comes out again in hardcover, buy it quick. Its a collectible. If it doesn't, buy it in soft-cover. Its still a collectible!
Book Review: WHY NOT A XMAS TV SPECIAL ? Summary: 5 Stars
3 YEARS AGO I READ THIS BOOK FOR THE FIRST TIME. SINCE THEN, I'VE PURCHASED NO LESS THAN 25 BOOKS TO GIVE AWAY..I'M SO ENTHRALLED BY THE MAGIC OF THIS STORY, AND I'VE READ IT TO MY 4 GRANDCHILDREN EACH XMAS EVE EVERY SINCE. CHILDREN AND ADULTS ALIKE ARE MESMERIZED, WHEN I READ TO THEM ! THE STORY IS JUST INCREDIBLE...AND THE ENDING JUST BRINGS ON GOOSE-BUMPS ! THE ILLUSTRATIONS PUT SMILES ON YOUR FACE AND A WARM GLOW IN YOUR HEART. I HOPE GO TO VASHON ISLAND SOME DAY...AND FIND THAT "TWEED" BICYCLE ! HURRY OUT AND BUY EVERY COPY TO GIVE TO ANYONE WHO STILL HAS A LOT OF KID INSIDE THEM ! CAN'T BELIEVE THAT THIS HAS NOT BEEN MADE INTO A CHILDREN'S CHRISTMAS SPECIAL
Book Review: My Ultimate Christmas Story Summary: 5 Stars
The Red Ranger Came Calling has overtaken every other book, even my now #2 pick How The Grinch Stole Christmas, as my "must-tell" Christmas story. I am not able to read it aloud without tearing up at some point, curiously not always at the SAME point in the story.
This is a tall tale, more accurately the re-telling of a tall tale, and it's poignant message to remember to "look up" when seeking answers. The beautiful story for all ages is matched in brilliance with the artwork of Breathed. I have yet to find a child or adult who doesn't "get" the story and its beautiful moral. One need not be an Opus fan to love this book and appreciate the artistry inside.
Book Review: A Truly Magical Book Summary: 5 Stars
I found this book about four years ago on a bargan table in a book store. I read it when a got home and as I finished, tears welled up in my eyes! I returned to the store the next day and purchased every remaining copy! It has become a tradition around our home to read it at sometime during each Christmas season. I usually make a gift of one copy each year to a friend or family member. I am currently down to four copys from my original nine, so I feel very fortunate that it is still available...and at such a good price! If you do get this book do your self a favor, sit down, read it from the first page, don't peak ahead, and get the tissues ready!
Book Review: A Guaranteed, Wonderful Book! Summary: 5 Stars
Without re-capping the story of this very unique book, let me say that the reading age should be 5 - 105! I was so moved and my imagination so captured by this tale that I made a summer vacation trip to Vashon Island in the Puget Sound, just to check out the legend. I spent a mystical afternoon dragging my son around Point Robinson and the town of Vashon, looking for the storybook places. Let me say that the "object in question" is still there, and the local folks seem to know nothing about it's history. I await Berkeley Breathed website to ask him personally about his father Red's experience. Thank you for a once in a lifetime book.
