Book Review: not what i was hoping for Summary: 2 StarsI was really looking for some simple easy to make recipes for everyday eating... I figured with so many recipes it would cover that. I was wrong and most of these are to much prep for the time I have. I don't think i've used one recipe from it yet.
Book Review: Not Good for Colitis Summary: 1 StarsI ordered this book based on other's reviews. This book is of no use to me, as my doctor told me I can not eat nuts. Not only do the recipes in this book not work with my colitis, but they all include incredibly expensive products in order to make the food. Almond flour is really expensive. If you suffer from colitis, this is not the book for you unless you are able to eat nuts.
Book Review: A goldmine for those looking for grain free recipes! Summary: 5 StarsWhat a great find -- this cook book. He provides recipes for all tastes, from desserts to main course to beverages! Very easy to follow, and the ingredients are things not difficult to find in your local store. I do not hesitate to recommend this book to everyone!
Book Review: Simple, Yet Flavorful - Great SCD Resource Summary: 5 StarsMy husband is on the Specific Carbohydrate Diet, and this is the best cookbook I have found so far. I am not an especially confident cook, so this book has been a great resource for me. There are many recipes that are not overly complicated, yet result in flavorful dishes. So far I have made the Stuffed Mushrooms (pair well with a lean steak), Kung Pao Chicken made with SCD Asian Sauce (the dried chilies make it SPICY!), Bulgogi Wraps (or Korean Marinated Beef, also made with SCD Asian Sauce, and they are DELICIOUS!), Shepherd's Pie (this recipe calls for cauliflower instead of mashed potatoes, which is a surprisingly subtle difference, although I did put my own spin on this one: used regular onions instead of green, eliminated the cumin & lime juice, and added carrots & peas), Transylvanian Hazelnut Cookies (the honey-butter glaze makes these!), Hazelnut-Vanilla Pancakes, and Mom's Blueberry Muffins. I have had success with all of these recipes, and look forward to trying many more of them.
