Book Reviews of Ragtime, the Musical (Vocal Selections): Piano/Vocal/ChordsBook Review: Two wonderful songs are missing! Summary: 5 Stars
I think the songs chosen to represent this book were excellent, however, my two favorite songs in the show: "The Night that Goldman Spoke at Union Square" and "Atlantic City" are two songs which strongly express the musical's powerful vocal potential. Not only do I know several people who would like to get their hands on this sheet music, but I myself have been racking my brain for those two songs inparticular, and was disapointed to find they were missing form this book.
Book Review: Beautifully Compiled Selections Summary: 5 Stars
I'm an avid musician, and I adore books of showtunes like this. Many times, musicals contain great duets or chorus songs. But the books you buy only contain a melody line, no harmony. This book not only contains both lines in all the duets, but has a few six part lines, making it wonderful for any musician. A great buy.
Book Review: Great book Summary: 5 Stars
This book is put together great and has a great selection of songs from the show. Most show books like this have the treble focusing on the melody, but here there are some nice piano parts that are all harmonies and accomapaniments
Book Review: Ragtime Songs Are A Big Hit Summary: 5 Stars
Over 1 million copies have been sold. This has to be one of the greatest songbooks from broadway ever.
Book Review: Where's "The Show Biz"? Summary: 4 Stars
I love this book and have used it many times for auditions/concerts etc. However, one of my most favorite selections from the Original 1996 Toronto recording is the song between Nesbit and Houdini called "The Show Biz". Besides being hilarious, it's the perfect duet to open a concert with. I was extremely disappointed to find that this book didn't include that song. Does anyone know where that sheet music can be found?
