Book Reviews of Prison Writings: My Life Is My Sun Dance

Book Review: Riveting, compelling, inspritational.
Summary: 5 Stars

United States Prisoner #89637-132, a hero and a brave man,
full of spirit. Nothing, not even false imprisonment
can take that away from him. This book will bring you to
tears and warm your heart, as does the traditoinal but
improvised sun dance. The miscarriage of justice may
anger you, and my prayers are that enough of the readers
of this book will contact their congressmen, anyone that
will listen, and hopefully free this innocent man. In the
meantime, he lives his life with dignity and shines with
honor. His ancestors would be proud of him.
I read this book in one sitting, as I was unable to put
it down, and neither will you. May God Bless Mr. Leonard
Pelletier and all Native Americans that continue to endure
what the white man has done to all of the Indian tribes!

Book Review: FREE LEONARD PELTIER
Summary: 5 Stars

After reading PRISON WRITINGS, I must say that Leonard Peltier should have been freed along time ago. You can sense from reading his writings that he hasnt lost hope and still believes that he will be free and able to be with his family and loved ones. His writings also give us the bleak life that he is living as he remains in prison for crimes that he was falsly convicted of. The only thing that Leonard is guilty of is doing what he thought was right in trying to make a better life for his people and nothing else. If this is a crime, than we are living in a backward country that is to concerned with fighting wars all over the world than will freeing an innocent man from a life in prison. This is a true injustice and it is one that needs to be reversed

Book Review: a necessary book
Summary: 5 Stars

PRISON WRITINGS brings the vital point of view of Leonard Peltier himself--often spoken of but rarely heard from. Peltier writes of the contexts which shaped his life, the impulses to activism through AIM, and the horrific miscarriage of justice perpetrated upon him. And aside from that, there is a beautiful and very moving description of an inipi, i.e. sweat lodge ceremony, which comprises the last several pages of the book, a section which I recommend for anyone who wishes to understand the logistics and the importance of this ritual. PRISON WRITINGS is a memoir, a treatise *and* a profoundly important accounting of the cultural connections which remain firmly in place for Leonard Peltier. I recommend this book vigorously.

Book Review: AIM
Summary: 5 Stars

I have read every (just about) American Indian book that has meaning and truth to it. Leonard Peltier is a man who means a lot to just about every Indian and every non Indian who knows his story. I would do some online research about him and what was going in South Dakota during the 70s prior to this book in order to understand the magnatude of BS this man has endured (not only him but American Indians as well). He tells his story, his feelings and his thoughts. He had my upmost respect prior to reading this book and this book has helped me "get to know" him.
It's a great book. You won't be disappointed.
