Book Reviews of Pride and Prejudice (Penguin Classics)Book Review: Pride and Prejudice Summary: 5 Stars
Jane Austen has started to write this truly accurate novel before she reached the age of twenty-one. It is remarkable the way she brought off the mercenary and ignorance of the people-a common criticism of the 18th century. I can assure that those who have a taste for the classic and the romantic are going to have such a pleasant reading as I had. What I've found most interesting was the constant presence of an utterly charming, engaging and fast 'war of wits' among characters. It certainly has a great theme and we can still see its content applied in todays world. Pride and Prejudice was elegantly-written by Jane Austen and I can say that it was very worth it as well as inspiring to me reading this novel.
Book Review: The start of all romance novels to follow Summary: 5 Stars
Some want to know why this book is so great... because it's the first of its kind and sets the stage for all romance books to follow to this day. I had to go back and review the original that started a genre that still exists today. Darcy is the ultimate hero every author tries to imitate and recreate over and over again to this day. Elizabeth is a strong headed feminist and again, this book was stunning for its time and that is why it is finally popular after 200 years... although it was well received in its day. This was written in a time when authors didn't have editors really and they were still unsure of how to tell a story or write a novel. Read your history to understand how groundbreaking this novel was.
Book Review: Amazing!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I first read this book this past school year (11th grade), with a teacher who is an active JANSA Member (The Jane Austen Society of North America). The one thing I will always remember from him, was that in this book the characters are so real that you can see them in your everyday life. Along with my teacher we took a trip down to memory lane and saw all of Jane's characters in his High School (he wrote this as an essay he read at a JANSA congregation). And of course he ended by finding his Elizabeth, who's name is actually Jane (ironic isn't it?). I TRULY recommend this book.
Book Review: Beauty is an eye of beholder Summary: 5 Stars
Even though the Darcy has a personalities that are unacceptable throughout this story, this character attracted me a lot because of it's peculiar persona that he had. This sense might be derived from the sense of value that I have personally. It is certainly a true that external features of a certain person predispose a people to estimate his general personality traits, however, this should be a thing that ethically discouraged. I like to recommend this book to person who would like to ponder over fundamental matters of human relationship. Pride is thing truly made by Prejudice.
Book Review: Even better the sixth time around Summary: 5 Stars
I recently finished reading Pride and Prejudice for the sixth time and can honestly say it was better than it ever has been before. The first reading, in high school, was a little rough. Since then, this book has grown on me each time (silly to say, since it is my FAVORITE book and the only one I have re-read as often). The humor is fantastic, the characters are both wonderful and suited so well to the time period, and Mr. Darcy is a classic "leading man". Who doesn't want to find the modern day version of Mr. Darcy?
