Book Reviews of Potty Time with Elmo (Liittle Sound Book)Book Review: Too wordy Summary: 3 Stars
My daughter just turned two. I gave her this book on the day we started potty training. She likes the noises and push buttons but will not pay attention to the storyline. Also, there are better books out there for using the potty. This book focuses too much on the doll and not enough on Elmo actually using the potty. There is a lot more to read on each individual page than my toddler wants to listen to. I usually cannot even make it through the whole paragraph before she wants to turn the page. She does love the book though. If you are looking for something to keep your child occupied while sitting on the potty, this might be good. Otherwise, buy something else that is more educational if you want the book to teach about using the potty.
Book Review: Elmo Potty Book Summary: 3 Stars
My two-year-old loves this book. He isn't potty trained - and this book isn't helping, but he loves it none-the-less. This book drives me nuts. The sound effects are very annoying and volume is a little loud. I try to hide it so he won't pick this one - but he always manages to find it. Elmo tries to teach his doll, Baby David, how to use the potty. The story is a little vague and sound effects and button pictures are just average. The "fish" soap is just weird - I know my two-year-old does not get that it's supposed to be soap. However, the end where Elmo shows his drawer full of big boy underwear is good. My son likes to pick out his favorite pair and then talk about underwear, so I guess that's a step in the right direction. I hope....
Book Review: Not for Potty, but does hold attention Summary: 3 Stars
If you are looking to help your child go Potty, this isn't the book for you most likely. I think it helps getting Elmo into it because my toddler really likes Elmo, but it doesn't really help. There's no pictures of being on the potty, sometimes it's hard to hear the sounds correctly, and overall my little girl hasn't made any negative or positive thoughts about the Potty. She does however really get a kick at playing and reading and going 'The End' at the end of the book.
So potty helper? Not really, but it does hold her attention, which isn't always a bad thing. Also, I think it could have been made better if Elmo was the one learning, instead of his little doll. I don't get that part really.
Book Review: We are happy with it Summary: 3 Stars
It was so hard to find Potty training books that I felt would be helpful. After searching long and hard we found a few and out of those this was one of them. Our little guy started potty training at 15 months. Our goal is to have him on it at least twice a day for 10 minutes (morning when he wakes up and when we get home after work)or less if he goes. It's only been a month and (he's gone 31 times so far) plays with this book, loves to push the buttons and flip the pages. Soon I'm sure we will be able to actually "read" it to him LOL..but for now, I have no complaints. He's really into pushing buttons and sounds and tactile things right now so we are happy with this purchase!
Book Review: Not the best potty book out there.... Summary: 3 Stars
My son loves Elmo, and this book is OK as far as being potty training-oriented, but don't plan on it being central to your potty-training tools. It walks through the steps of using the potty, flushing, and washing hands, and sends a clear message that accidents happen and are ok, but as other reviewers have mentioned it doesn't give any information on how to know when you have to go. Also, the sounds are all but irrelevent and the book is obnoxiously loud, of course with no volume adjustment. This seems to be a trend among our Elmo toys, actually....
