They have already used him once now they are going to do it again. A 14-year-old boy, Alex Rider is forced to be a spy by M16, a British Intelligence Agency. Alex Rider just wants to be a normal kid even though he is not. In the first book, it tells you about his parents dying in a car crash and that he was being raised by his uncle. Years later, the uncle died in a supposable "car crash" as well while he was on a mission enforced by the M16. After his whole family passed away, he only had his nanny Jack to comfort him. Jack had a huge impact on Alex. She was always there for him and whenever things got rough, she helped him get through it. While Alex has no clue how his family died, the M16 is working on ways to save the world by manipulating Alex.
In Alex's mission, he is to visit the Point Blanc Academy because M16 have noticed some suspicious behavior. He has to go undercover as a 14-year-old delinquent that has been kicked out of schools, gotten in a lot of trouble, has a rich dad. He goes to a private school for rich families. The security is very strict because the parents want to make sure they are safe. Most parents place kids into Point Blanc Academy because they are aware of the enemies they have made throughout their business careers. While Alex is roaming the hallways, and uncovering the truth of Point Blanc, he makes a friend. His friend, James Sprintz has been there longer and noticed that the kids have been acting weird. One day they are normal and the stubborn rich kids they are then perfect, quiet and robot like the next.
One night, Alex hears screaming and finds out that they are from his friend. Then the next day, just as Alex suspected, his friend has become one of "them," lifeless and emotionless. Alex decides to take action he sneaks out of his locked room and tip-toes his way through a dungeon where he finds the real kids locked up. The kids all explain to him about how the school is making clones! He notifies M16 but for some reason they don't come. Not long after, the teachers realize that Alex is not who he says he is. They lock him up and plan to kill him. Will he escape and find a way to save others or will M16 ignore him and let him die while being dissected like a frog?
The Alex Rider series is an exciting and adventurous story that keeps you questioning and wondering. The author Anthony Horowitz does an extremely good job describing the setting which allows me to envision. I also like his books because I can understand Alex's feelings, his frustration, anger, eagerness, and best of all, his ideas and strategies that help him escape. If you are the type of person that likes mysteries, adventures, deadly situations, and suspense then this book is perfect for you!!!
