Having watched the entire planet earth series on the Discovery channel I decided to purchase this accompanying book and it was one of the best decisions i made. this book is atonishing in both its clarity of detailed images as well as in its detail of explaining the world in which we live. The information provided is somewhat basic in parts but is more than compensated by the terrific photography. There has not been another book published like this in recent years. All of the praise it receives is well earned.Book Review: Planet Earth

The book "Planet Earth" provides a broad outline along with sufficient detail to understand the complicated life form it supports and how these life forms are absolutely essential for our "human" survival. It is humbling to note that billions of species provide for our very existance and we are callous enough to be wiping the very same species that support our life into extinction.
This book is a welcome and urgent wake-up call for us to protect our planet and our future from our destructive selves.

This book is a wonderful companion to the Discovery Channel series. It provides breathtaking pictures of many shots seen in the television show but also some incredible new ones (My favorite was of the polar bear on the blood-covered iceberg after slaughtering a seal. So primal and beautiful at the same time.) The text is easy to read and very informative and leads you through each section throughly. A must have for any nature/animal/photography lover!Book Review: Planet Earth is astonishing!

Amazing accomplishment; it outdoes anything of its ilk I have seen before. Breathtaking photography and a narrative that addresses complex issues in a common sense format. The rigors they had to go through to make this stunning photography happen were arduous. Living for months in Antartica and swimming repeatedly with sharks with no protection from them are but two examples. The result is a series rich in its detail and far surpassing similar efforts.Book Review: FABULOUS!
