Book Reviews of Pieces of My Heart: A LifeBook Review: Didn't expect to like this book as much as I did. Recommended. Summary: 5 Stars
I picked this up at the library. Celebrity memoirs don't usually hold my attention long. I skip through large sections, getting to the parts that interest me, then return the book to the library, quite happy I didn't invest money in it. Wagner's book is one of the rare celebrity memoirs I would have happily purchased. Easily one of my favorite reads in 2008. It captured my attention from start to finish. To be honest, I wasn't much of a Wagner or Wood fan when I picked the book up but became one when I put the book down. Wagner's book is a touching, sensitive account of his love for Natalie Wood, his gratitude toward Stanwyck and his present happiness with Jill St. John. I felt better for having read it.
Book Review: My Review Summary: 5 Stars
I am not one to spend much time watching Entertainment Tonight, it is too slick and almost The Enquirer in nature. I grew up, however, with the stars that included Robert Wagner, and Natalie Wood, Fred Astaire, Gable, and Grant. Reading about their more human side in this book was pleasurable reading, and a learning experience. It is certainly a book I would recommend to anyone who is interested in the Hollywood folks of the 60s through the 80s.
The author lays to rest the conjecture around the death of Natalie Wood, with all the horrible things that were said about it at that time.
Mr. Wagner was brave beyond belief in keeping himself together and getting on with living, and loving again.
Book Review: When God made "RJ" we the world benefited greatly..... Summary: 5 Stars
I read the book in ten hours and two minutes. I tried but i couldn't put it down I had to read more and more til the end. I laughed and i cried
The candidness of his life growing up and the Hollywood system in years
gone by truly brought me to tears. To tell it with such sensitivity and
honesty. Robert Wagner is the kind of friend or relative anyone would want in their lives. As the saying goes..."You can't pick your relatives
but you sure can pick your friends"... Now we all have a best bud! "RJ"
& Larry.. Thanks for letting us into your life and into your heartbreaking
moments with such style and Grace and truly telling it like it was.take care.
Book Review: Pieces of my Past Summary: 5 Stars
As a young teenager, I had pictures of my favorite movies stars on my wall and two of them were Robert Wagner and Natalie Wood. Now, as a grandmother, I was delighted when Pieces of My Heart was published and was not disappointed. Even though I grew away from young crushes, I was devastated when Natalie Wood died and continued to follow Robert Wagner's career. As a family, he has given us much enjoyment with his television programs.
Mr. Wagner's insight of the movie business and his obsession to keep learning tells a lot about his character. I want to thank him for a very enjoyable read, and I'm glad he seems content and happy with his life.
Book Review: Pieces of My Heart: A life Summary: 5 Stars
I have always been very fond of Robert Wagner, when heard this book was out, i simply had to read it, and have it in my collections.
I read this book in a matter of days, the stories in it were extremely interesting and i couldn't put it down. i loved how Mr. Wagner got into show business and wasn't he the lucky one to meet all these wonderful famous icons. Not only meet them, but get to be good friends and all the great advice he was given. He made these actors sound like real people like you and me.
There were funny segments and very sad chapters. Mr. Wagner sounds like someone anyone would like for a friend.
