Book Reviews of Photoshop 7 for DummiesBook Review: This Dummies is a mess! Summary: 1 Stars
Dummies books have been a staple of my computing/software resource library for a long time. This book was very disappointing. If you're looking for an organized presentation of the functions and capabilities of Adobe 7, leave this on the shelf. There are few visual examples in the book and very few tutorials that lead you through a topic in any organized way at all. To get something out of this book, I found myself jumping all over the place, following topic and function chapter references tossed in all too frequently, sifting through meaningless and annoying chatty writing, trying to piece together a tool's functionality on my own. And did I mention the writing style? Distracting, distracting, distracting. I felt like I was sitting in a computer class for octogenarians with ADD. Get to the point!! Leave it on the shelf.
Book Review: Confused me even more... Summary: 1 Stars
I have photoshop 7, it was given to me by a friend. I bought this book to help me figure out how to use it. I was confused before, and this book just confused me even more. A few times I wondered if the author was actually talking about the same program. I lent the book to my friend (who also was trying to figure out the program) and she was as confused as I was while reading the book.
I really like the "For Dummies" books. I have many of the other books about various things and they have been very helpful. This one was not helpful at all, and what really sucks is that I still cannot figure out this stinking program!!!
Book Review: disappointed Summary: 1 Stars
This is my first Photoshop book. It is not for beginers, maybe not even for pros. The book goes fairly quickly over topics, not explaining very well the nuts and bolts. I had to do a lot of trials and errors and still often have not achieved the effect I wanted. It almost appears as if the writers do not have the big picture but rather a frgmented one. They are also short on details, leaving the reader frustrated. A lot is taken for granted. In short, I do not recommend this to beginners or "dummies". I moved on to another PS manual.
Book Review: Don't Like It!!! Summary: 1 Stars
If you buy this book with the expectations of learning Photoshop, forget about it. The book just dosen't capture your attention, it makes you more confused then you were before you bought it. The authors try and make you learn by using old fashioned pictures and cartoons, a good idea, but it dosen't work. I really tried for about 2 weeks to learn Photoshop, with the help of this book. I learned more by navigating the program by myself. I don't like this book.
Book Review: Book Seems to Be for Different Product Summary: 1 Stars
I'm so confused. I downloaded the latest free trial of Photoshop 7 element 7 and then went out and bought this book. But the menu items described in the book are not the menu items in the package. NOT EVEN CLOSE! I'm not sure what product this book is suppossed to be for, but it's not Photoshop 7.
