This is an interesting book. I would recommend it to anyone who wishes to get a good overview of all things phantom. You can find virtually every movie, play and musical ever written about the story, along with a few that are only loosely based on it. There is, admittedly, very little information about the various book spin-offs. But I suppose this is understandable considering the huge volume of spin-offs and pastiches that get published from year to year. Movies and theater productions are easier to document. The only fault I could find (the one that lost this book a star) is the excruciatingly poor editing. It was almost a game after a while to count how many times Flynn repeated the phrase "deformed musician and his love for a young opera singer". But, this little flaw aside, it's a well-researched book and anybody's Phantom collection would be incomplete without it.
