Book Reviews of Peyton Place (Hardscrabble Books-Fiction of New England)

Book Review: Peyton Place
Summary: 5 Stars

I watched Peyton Place on TV as a teenager (I think that is how old I was), and I loved the show and the characters. Reading the book all these years later brought me back to those years. I loved the characters, they were really brought to life for me in the book. It was a blast from the past. I read this book with one of my book clubs, made up of women in their 50's and 60's and we all truly enjoyed the book. I would recommend it to others to read.

I bought this book thru Amazon.com and it was a new book.

Book Review: great book
Summary: 5 Stars

A soap opera type book that doesn't follow any conventions. I really liked the movie and got the book to find out more. The characters are well written with modern problems, hopes, and dreams. The harsh reality of life finds its way into a small New England town. It is a story about real people and their real lives. Excellent. It differs greatly from the movie, and is much better than the movie.

Book Review: Surprisingly Gripping
Summary: 5 Stars

When I purchased this book I thought I'd be reading an outdated view of a small New England town. Well, I was incapable of putting this book away. There's no murder mystery, etc. but it's still just as exciting! Not everyone's speed since there are several excerpts of sex and molestation. Nonetheless, it's a well-written novel.

Book Review: Awesome
Summary: 5 Stars

Considering the book is 50 years old this year, it's still an enjoyable book to read. It was controversial when it was released, but I do not think it is "outdated" for today's standards. I think there is a litte "Peyton Place" in all of us that we can relate to. Good read!

Book Review: Great Book!
Summary: 5 Stars

Grace de Repetigny Metalious was a writer way before her time. She brings up the issues in her storyline, in all of her books I will add, that challenges the reader. As a member of the Franco-American culture, she is one of writers we look up to in our heritage.
