Book Review: Fun Pirate Book With Positive Message!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this book for my three year old son who loves everything about pirates. He loves this book because of the mean pirates and the sharks and the fact that Petey makes friends easily, even when faced with difficult circumstances. The pictures are awesome because they start out with a little bit of color and then slowly add color as Petey faces new challenges! I liked the vocab. section because we got to go over some words that he wouldn't normally see, like capsize and negotiate. Also, there were discussion questions at the end that I used. Each time we read it, I pick a different one and he actually has something to say about it! A great pirate book!

Petey and the Mean Pirates is a delightful children's book that appeals to both kids and parents, alike. It was written to speak to the common childhood belief that all pirates have to be rough and tough and aggressive (and that "little pirates" can sometimes act out that way at home, school, or daycare).
