Book Reviews of People of the Book: A NovelBook Review: Geraldine Brooks Doesn't Disappoint Summary: 5 Stars
People of the Book is a fascinating read by Geraldine Brooks. It traces the history of the ancient book which the author is researching. Many lives were part of this history and I couldn't put it down. It made me question whether religion is the cause for such brutal behavior by humans or if humans basically have a brutal streak and use religion for an expression of it.
Book Review: People of the Book Summary: 5 Stars
A good, interesting mix of history and fiction, in a very enjoyable style. Terrible historical events to remember, and a fascinating history of book-making combine with Brooks' well-developed characters from the Spanish Inquisition through present time to enliven the tale. The ending was a bit too 'Hollywood' easy. But PEOPLE OF THE BOOK is a worthwhile read.
Book Review: Better than "March" Summary: 5 Stars
Following the journey of this unusual illuminated manuscript taught me more about history than countless textbooks might have. The research is impeccable. I couldn't wait until the shifts from one historic period to another. Although I enjoyed "March," we've read so much about the civil war period. "People of the Book" is fresher.
Book Review: Mesmerizing Summary: 5 Stars
This is a great book...wonderfully written and researched. It's a real page turner as the author keeps taking us back to earlier times and then bringing us up to the present. The story of the Sarajevo Haggadah is an amazing tale of the survival of this priceless piece of Jewish history.

I've just finished reading People of the Book. It`s a fascinating, compelling, enlightening novel.
I also enjoyed learning a lot of history, religions, traditions, different cultures. I thank so much the friend who introduced me to this marvellous writer.
