Book Reviews of People of the Book: A Novel

Book Review: People Of The Book
Summary: 5 Stars

I think the book is great. I'm still reading it but will be finished soon. The only thing I have a problem with is the fact that in the first part of the process, I was told that my book would ship in just a few days. After hit the final button I was then told that I could expect arriveal in a short time ot maybe three weeks. When ordeing books I usually get this response but the books arrive much sooner. This time though they were correct but it was too late for me to complete the book and get back to my book club.

Book Review: People of the Book
Summary: 5 Stars

People of the Book is a most remarkable creation.

A reader must marvel at depth of the research and the breadth of the author's thinking in creating a piece of fiction that reads like the best of scholastic dissertations. (Good scholarly writing is NOT boring!)

We do know intellectually that the events of the book are simply fiction, but I find it difficult to give up the notion that any portion of it simply is not true.

it is true!

Book Review: As mesmerizing as the cover art
Summary: 5 Stars

This book is the author's best book. As with her other books, her voice immediately immerses the reader in the story. But the strength of the story interwoven among the story of the prior book's owners is a wonderful creative flair that Ms. Brooks has not previously shown us. Read this to find out what has happened to the previous book owners, the history of Jewish people in Southern Europe, and an interesting Australian rare book expert.

Book Review: A rare beauty
Summary: 5 Stars

I'll be forever thankful to my friend who recommended this book. I devoured it in days and yet the story will stay with me always. I love historically based books that have compelling, real characters that make you look at the good and bad of humanity, the good and bad within ourselves. This book is a perfect example of how fear and shame has such a wide-sweeping effect on everyone.

Book Review: People BUY this book!
Summary: 5 Stars

The best book i read in 2008!
I read it very slowly (unusual for me) because i wanted to "digest" every single thing.

Its an amazing story yes indeed!

I love the way Geraldine writes (its the first book i read from her) and I adored Hanna, the aussie slang was fab.

The interwoven stories are amazing!

Totally recommend this one!
