This is an outstanding view of the personal and professional life of one of the greatest tenors of all time - Luciano Pavarotti. For years, I have marveled at Pavarotti's intensity and tone, the effortless manner in which he hit high Cs and the incredible emotion and feeling he put into every piece he sang. Still, the man behind the great opera performer was even more intriguing.
Pavarotti Up Close begins in Modena, where young Luciano was surrounded by a family who loved music. Choosing the best voice teacher was as difficult for Pavarotti as it is for many singers today and I followed with great interest those formative years, which set his feet upon the path of greatness.
