Book Reviews of Pat the Bunny (Touch and Feel Book)

Book Review: Great even for a 6 month old
Summary: 5 Stars

My baby went crazy for this book and her age (6 months) seems to be perfect for it. Her favourite pages are pat-the-bunny (a fuzzy bunny on the page), peek-a-boo (where Paul's face is hidden with a piece of cloth) and Judy's book (a miniature book attached to the larger book). She hyperventilates with excitement when we get to these pages, and after a few tries was able to make the right movements for Paul to play peek-a-boo and to turn the pages on Judy's book. She is not an avid roller but she will roll across a whole blanket to get to this book. The only negatives of this book is that the pages are thin and have sharp corners. She chews on the pages, so I don't know how long they'll last, and when she waves the book around I am afraid she will hit herself in the eye with its sharp corners. We solve both these problems by only reading the book together (I don't leave it around as a toy). Other than that, it's hard to imagine a better book for a 6 month old.

Book Review: Nostalgic book holds up for next generation!
Summary: 5 Stars

Now this is a book i LOVED as a child. I can remember, slipping my small finger through the ring cut out and gingerly rubbing "daddy's" sandpaper stubble. Some childhood memories pale when you try to re-live them with your own children- but not this one. My children giggled each time they touched Daddy's face (who in their case actually looks like their daddy with dark hair unlike my own), and my son especially loved playing peek-a-boo with the boy. This is a great gift and although it probably won't hold up in order to be passed down (my friends copy went through three kids and is now kept in a box in it's "pieces") it is definitely a keeper. You can start introducing this book as early as they are ready to listen to you read- it is very interactive so great for the 9 mos on stage) but don't leave them alone with it until they can restrain from gumming it-- not a board book or baby "proof".

Book Review: Every child should have Pat the Bunny
Summary: 5 Stars

I couldn't count how many copies of this book I have purchased. The most recent was for my third grandchild due later this month. This book is the best there is for the very young child. For each of my own three children, it was a stand-out favorite that was read over and over until overuse required it be replaced. We certainly couldn't be without a copy! Since then, this book is always included whenever I give gifts to new parents.
The book is the touchy-feely type so the child explores the soft fur of the bunny, Daddy's scratchy beard, etc. The only times I hesitated buying it for a new baby was once when the mom was unwed and the father was not involved with her or the child (there is a page on Daddy's beard and one for mother's ring) and another time for a family of color since parents in the book are Caucasian.

Book Review: My son's absolute favorite book (he's 1 year old)
Summary: 5 Stars

My son got this book when he was 2 or 3 months old. We would read it to him occasionally as he was getting older. When he got to be about 6 months, he could do most of the things in the book (play peek-a-boo with Paul, pat the bunny, etc.). Now that he is a year, he does everything -- he waves to Paul & Judy, he puts his finger in the ring, smells the flowers, etc. He loves this book so much, the cover has come off and we have to purchase another.

The great thing about this book is that there is something fun for them to do on every page, and it grows with your child. The only drawback I found is that it's not super-durable if your child really loves it and reads it over and over and over and over... :-)

Book Review: A classic. My 7 month old niece loves it!
Summary: 5 Stars

While I agree the perfume smelling flowers are not the best smelling ever... who cares? This book is great for being interactive with young babies. I bought it for my 7 month old niece. She loves it! She caught on right away to patting the bunny, peekaboo with Paul and Daddy's scratchy face. In particular, I was impressed that the peekaboo cloth stays tight and she grabs onto it and pulls hard to get the peekaboo going.

Is it a slightly older book? yes. But I have not seen other books that are better for the stimulating the senses of a baby. She has books that I ask her where is the cat? where is the bunny? and she doesn't quite get thqat yet, but the touching and playing she does.
