Book Reviews of Passport to World Band Radio

Book Review: Essential resource for the hobbyist
Summary: 4 Stars

Passport provides inticing receiver reviews together with useful listings of stations and programs. It is an essential resource for the hobbyist and a worthwhile purchase, notwithstanding the plethora of information modernly available on the web. Based on recent comments from the editor, it now appears that the 25th edition (2009) could be the last (owing to the web phenomenon alluded to above as well as the high cost of producing a hobby publication these days). This makes purchase of the book all the more desirable, initially as a show of support to the editorial staff, but alternatively to make avail of what could be the last chance to obtain this useful publication before it falls out of print.

Book Review: The best book for shortwave listeners (even it doesn'y have all the Info.)
Summary: 4 Stars

This is an exelent book. Unfortunatly it lacks some information like:
- On the blue pages it doesn't identify other languages than English, Arabic; Chinese; French; German; Russian or Spanish. It cound be easily done by adding a two letters code for each one of the other languages.
- The country-by Country section is only for Broadcasts in English (it would be nice if it has more 20 pages to include broadcasts in french and spanjsh),
- There are some missing info (not updated yet) on the blue pages. I.E. BBC on 5990Khz,Portuguese, 20:30-21:00.

The best book in the market for the short wave listener.

Book Review: Invaluable Reference Source
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this 2009 edition several months ago and am only now getting around to reviewing it, although I guess it has been replaced by the 2010 edition. No problem, though, because the new one probably carries on the tradition of excellence that the Passport has been presenting each year for many years. It contains frequencies, reviews of equipment, explanatory articles about various aspects of the hobby, broadcast station addresses and so forth. Buy the 2010 edition and enjoy what truly is a passport to this fabulous hobby.

Book Review: World Band Radio, 2009 Edition
Summary: 4 Stars

Thorough book on world band radios, frequencies and times of day (schedules). Graphical displays of world times, countries, and frequencies of world radio stations. Also included is a good tutorial for first time listeners. This book is considered the Bible for short and medium wave radio stations. I find this book a very useful companion when searching the airways. Useful to just about every experience level.

Book Review: Oustanding book, though printer has quality control issues
Summary: 3 Stars

This is one of the best books (if not the best) out there for reviews, frequencies, and schedules for HF world band radio. However, the recently published 2009 edition arrived missing 30 pages that were omitted by the publisher. I would give it 5 stars if the pages were not missing.

Amazing Amazon quickly replaced with another book that had all the pages.
