Book Reviews of Passport to World Band Radio

Book Review: Shortwave Radio, SWL, must have
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a reference/text/fun/must have every year book, for all shortwave radio listeners and alike. It does a wonderful job in all areas of SWL. It provides info on radio selection, all types. New and up-to-date stations,
frequencies, countries of origin, time of broadcast, xref. frequencies to stations and times. Interesting ads. You need this book the whole year. It uses high grade paper(its heavy too), has articles on countries, people, stations, things of interest, pictures in many categories. This book is quality cover to cover. Useful for an entire year, and parts of it forever.
Is that a great book or what!
Extremely Recommended !!!

Book Review: Passport to World Band Radio, soft cover
Summary: 5 Stars

The Passport to World Band Radio in soft cover was a very complete and informative on the subject of listening to shortwave radio from around the world. The explaninations of tech. issues were straight forward and in layman terms. The book is broken into easy to read segments covering not only product review of radio sets offered on the market and their rating of same to helpful hints on increasing your listening pleasure. A large portion of the book is devoted to frequencies and times suggested to listen to stations around the world that can be received in your area. Great book! Highly recommend reading it for your listening pleasure.

Book Review: Book is a "Must Have" for SW Listeners
Summary: 5 Stars

Many interesting articles and reviews on various receivers, antennas and more. The book's value to me lies elsewhere though. I'm using a 70's model Realistic DX-160 (analog tuning) radio. For me, the sections on worldwide broadcasts in english, and the "blue pages" - essentially a map of broadcasts by frequency (2.310Mhz-21.850Mhz) are extremely helpful. I haven't even looked at the section: "what's on tonight?" - features a guide to hour-by-hour listening to worldband programming / shows in english. I need to get reading...I mean listening. This guide is an excellent value.

Book Review: THE guide to shortwave listening!
Summary: 5 Stars

I've been SWLing (shortwave listening) since I was about 8 years old. Even though there are a lot of internet resources out there for finding shortwave frequencies and broadcast times, none are as user-friendly and well designed as this book. It is your "TV Guide" to all things shortwave. In addition to the broadcast guide, Passport also has the best radio reviews, beginner's guide and articles about shortwave broadcasters around the world. If you are new to SWLing, or have just purchased a radio for someone else, the Passport to World Band Radio is a must!

Book Review: Must have
Summary: 5 Stars

Didn't know how much I needed this book until I bought it. Love the section called "What's On Tonight." Just go to the current universal time and check it out. Like it says on the cover, "TV Guide for world band radio." Slick. Or if you found a great frequency look it up in the "Blue Pages" and find out who is on at a particular time. It even has a section dedicated to what's on in English. I was happy to find my receiver was highly rated. If you aren't happy with yours check out the reviews.

Like I said, "It's a must have."
