Book Reviews of Pandora's StarBook Review: Captivating World Building- Intense Summary: 5 Stars
I read Hamilton's Night's Dawn Trilogy long before this, and had recently read his single novel Fallen Dragon, so I am familiar with Hamilton's ability to build complex worlds on all levels.
This book is amazing in scope, detail, suspense and action. I loved it. The most frustrating characters by far are those who are fighting the Stargazer, their acts seem ludicrous and devastating and pointless. But Hamilton makes it all work on so many levels.
I had no idea this was going to require a sequel, until the very end and that was frustrating but it was worth the ride.
Book Review: Just finished it 5 minutes ago... Summary: 5 Stars
The only reason I even have this book is because I forgot to send the little slip back to the Science Fiction Book Club telling them I didn't want it, and I don't regret it one bit! I'm not going to take the time to try and give you an in depth analysis, as that has been done already in the above reviews. All I'm going to say is, if you like SF, you will love this book. It is a cliff hangar ending, but the sequel, Judas Unchained, is already available for pre-order. If you've bothered to stop and read this, get the book, you won't regret it.
Book Review: Whew... but GREAT series... lol Summary: 5 Stars
Well; when they said this book was "sprawling" they WERE not kidding.. geez... took me a while to "learn" to read a Peter Hamilton; or at least this series. I got lost so many times. But I'm one of those; who likes to keep her "ducks in a row".. In this book my ducks were all over the place.. jumping from mountains into hurricane type winds... . Going back in time... Roaming from planet to planet.
I finally learned.. just read on.. your ducks will line up behind you. This is a GREAT book.. and great read.
Book Review: Peter F. Hamilton, doing what he does best Summary: 5 Stars
Having read the Night's Dawn Trilogy, on a whim I bought this book, figuring that I couldn't go far wrong with another Peter F. Hamilton series. And I was right.
As always, the world-building is wonderful, and not revealed by ham-handed pages of exposition, but rather by immersion (at least for the most part). The aliens, while relatable, are truly alien. The science, while obviously imperfect, is obviously thought-through. Plus there's sex and violence, what's not to love?
Book Review: Excellent reading Summary: 5 Stars
This was the first book by Peter F. Hamilton I bought. And it was one of the best pieces of sci-fi literature I've ever read. Complex and intelligent plot, interesting characters and lots of high-class SF ideas. Some say the book is too long, but I wouldn't let a word out of it! For those true fans of "classic" and "epic" science fiction, who are not afraid to lose themselves in the realm of imagination reading until late, late night, this book is a must.
