Book Review: Good adoption story with great illustrations.

This lovely story, so beautifully illustrated, could have been excellent if instead of "her parents couldn't take care of her" had said, "Her parents wanted her to have the best possible home."- or another positive line. Adoptees may have concerns about this explanation (expressed or not expressed).

This is a lovely tale suitable for young children that explores the wonders and excitement of how a family is formed through adoption. Told through the eyes of the adoptive parents, it spreads nothing but love and warmth about the adoption process. While the story focuses on an international adoption, it is applicable to any type of adoption.Book Review: OK

First, this is a pretty book. My 4-year old likes this book; however, I have changed some of the wording to fit our perspective about adoption. Instead of "the lady" (what odd language) we use birthmother. Also, I skip the "meant to be" theme. I think that is sugar coating the truth a bit much(I'm sure it appeals to the red thread crowd, though). I'm sure my daughter wasn't "meant to be" abandoned, separated from her birthfamily, medical history & orginial culture. I like the book "The Color of Us" by the same author much better.
