Book Reviews of Over the Moon: An Adoption TaleBook Review: A very child orientated book with beautiful illustrations Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this book as a 'story' book for our daughter who too was adopted from Central America. Although our experiences do not exactly match those of the author, it is a lovely book to start talking about how another little girl was adopted, and then start discussing how we became a mummy and daddy to our little daughter. I think it is also a valuable addition to a Children's Library as I feel many young children might benefit from being aware that families are made in many ways, and it is a lovely story book for any child to look at and read.
Book Review: Good For Domestic & international adoption Summary: 5 Stars
We often read this book to our son, who was adopted domestically. But we have also given this book as a gift to families that have adopted internationally. It has simple words and concepts - which makes a great gift. I have looked at other books and many others have too much detail. One of my other favorite simple books is titled "The Day We Met You", which we started reading to our child around the age of 1.
Book Review: FOREVER AND ALWAYS Summary: 5 Stars
Well written and understandable to our little Grandson when his Mom read it to him when he was only 2 and 3 years old. The most wonderful compliment for me is when he says; "Grandma, I'll love you forever and always!" He still remembers that line from the book and says it unsolicited and unprompted. That means the world to me. This book fulfills a loving and comforting feeling these adopted children like to have.
Book Review: A fun adoption book just right for youngsters Summary: 5 Stars
I like the magical urgency expressed in the words of one adoptive family flying 'over the moon and through the night' to pick up their baby and love her 'forever and always.'It is a simple story that can be understood by small children. The illustrations are charming and stress the importance of the family unit. Gisela Gasper Fitzgerald, author of ADOPTION: An Open, Semi-Open or Closed Practice?
Book Review: Great book to open the discussion of adoption Summary: 5 Stars
I really like the simplicity of this book. It isn't overly graphic as some books on adoption are. It focuses more on the love that drives parents to wait, the anticipation in hoping every phone call is "the one," and the love we have for our children from day one. I felt very comfortable reading this book to my 1 year old and a year later, she pulls this one out frequently to read.
