Book Reviews of Organic Baby & Toddler CookbookBook Review: Recipes are worth it! Summary: 3 Stars
I bought this book hoping to find some fresh ideas for feeding my kids. Bingo. The recipes are fabulous, and definitely worth the $ paid for the rest of the book. I found the book itself to be very preachy about buying organic, which I found odd because chances are if you buy this book, you are already buying organic. As it is, I do not shop organic, and the book certainly did nothing to particularily sway me in that direction.I guess the bottom line is to skip the filler in this book and head right to the recipes- you won't be disappointed.
Book Review: A tad preachy, but a few good recipes Summary: 3 Stars
I bought this book because I needed some new inspiration for cooking for my two children. I was disappointed to find the book full of preachy advice about the importance of organic/fair trade food and how good it is for the environment and our children. Without going into the many ways she is wrong, I will just say that I found at least one good recipe that we use a lot now. Sweet potato with cream cheese and baked beans. It is a staple in our house and very delicious.
Book Review: Some delicious dishes for OLDER BABIES Summary: 3 Stars
I've enjoyed making many of the dishes in this book--a highlight: the delicious Pumpkin Stew, which my one-year-old gobbles up and I like too--but the recipes are not appropriate for new eaters. A 4-month-old shouldn't be eating complex foods liked mixed vegetables sauteed with onion in olive oil. Like other reviewers, I suggest this book as a complement to other resources.
Book Review: Some great recipes Summary: 3 Stars
This is a fairly good cookbook. It groups the recipes by age of the baby/toddler/pre-schooler, and has some good ideas for creative snacks. My favorite recipe is the Dahl. It's basically lentils with vegetables; it's very easy and my pre-schooler actually loves it. We top it with plain yogurt and he devours it.
Book Review: Beautiful cookbook but not very informative. Summary: 3 Stars
This is a gorgeous cookbook and looks to have some yummy recipes but it doesn't have much information in it about preparing your own baby food. ORGANIC BABY would be best to supplement other baby food cookbooks or for someone planning on preparing only occassional meals for the infant/toddler.
