Book Reviews of Once Upon a Potty -- Boy

Book Review: seems to be a hit
Summary: 5 Stars

I agree that the drawings are a little abstract, the wording a little funny at times, but my son LOVES this book. It has definately helped with the potty training process. I'll admit it was a little trying reading this book hundreds of times - but whatever it takes to get the job done was my feeling. My son's friend came over the other day, he found the book on our book shelf and his mom said how much he loved it and what an integral part of their potty training experience it was for them. He loved the book, too. Potty training can be a tedious process for both parent and child, but this book seems to really appeal to the 2 to 3 year old boy crowd. Anything that helps the process along is what it's all about.

Book Review: Timeless, Classic, and a Favorite!
Summary: 5 Stars

My toddler LOVES this book. It is his current favorite. He loves pointing at each of the pictures and "reading" along with me. The pages are made of card stock weight materials instead of regular paper, so it holds up really well to the excited hands of my 21-month old. Sure, the art style is out-dated (the potty looks like a big pitcher), but a toddler isn't likely to notice the difference. My son isn't potty trained yet, but this book did exactly what I hoped it would - get him interested in his potty & used to the vocabulary. I'd definitely recommend this book to other parents.

Book Review: Very Cute and Useful
Summary: 5 Stars

My own children had the "girl" version of this book and they remember it so fondly that my daughter requested the "boy" version for her son. Which I've happily purchased for him!

I love this little book and it has a "stick-to-it-ness" that works well with a preschooler. The illustrations are cute and it gives plenty of detail without being gross.

The only mild criticism I would have is that the boy's version uses the name "Joshua" for the main character and I would have better enjoyed something more original.

Book Review: Incredibly useful tool in potty training
Summary: 5 Stars

We began potty training our 19 month old son recently, because the doctor said he is showing all the signs, etc. And in fact, he has been telling us when it is time to change his diaper and is upset if he is at all wet. A little boy I babysat as a teenager had this book and had seemed helpful so this was one of my first purchases. I read the book to my son and imediately after, he wanted to go try out his potty. While he didn't go at that time, he ended up using it within about 4 days, when he asked to read the book again.

Book Review: Got the point across quickly
Summary: 5 Stars

This book worked well for giving my son the idea of going potty. Best of all, he found the part where Joshua was trying to figure out what the potty was for very humerous so he wanted to read it often. I agree with others about the terms used, but since he can't read, I just substituted the words I preferred. The author gets across the point that sometimes it takes time to learn and also time to sit on the potty, and I think this really helped my son. I highly recommend it.
