Book Review: Urban Fantasy Series
Summary: 5 Stars
A keeper. With the release of the 4th book in this series, I decided to go back to the beginning and immerse myself in the world of Jaz & Vayl once again. It's pretty rare that I can enjoy reading a book for a second time, let alone for a third reading, so I felt it necessary to post a review. Sure, it's the first in a series and so not everything is made clear right away (or even in the first couple of books), but it's the journey that makes it so much fun.
I won't rehash the plot, it's done fairly well for you in the blurb above and in several of the reviews. I will tell you that Jaz Parks is one of my favorite heroines in the genre of urban fantasy, right up there with Rachel Morgan (Dead Witch Walking), Mercy Thompson (Moon Called (Mercy Thompson Series, Book 1)), and Kate Daniels (Magic Bites (Kate Daniels, Book 1)). Jaz is a government-sanctioned killer with a troubled past that causes terrifying blackouts and the mysterious need to rearrange the furniture in every hotel, apartment, or grass hut she and her partner, Vayl, end up in on their missions. Vayl is a 300-year-old vampire with some dark secrets of his own (wait until you get to book 3), and is one of the few vamps working for the good guys.

If you like good urban fantasy stories with interesting yet troubled characters, then I highly recommend this book and the rest that follow: Another One Bites the Dust (Jaz Parks, Book 2), Biting the Bullet (Jaz Parks, Book 3), Bitten to Death (Jaz Parks, Book 4), and One More Bite (Jaz Parks, Book 5).
