Book Reviews of On the Night You Were BornBook Review: A great book for any child to have! Summary: 5 Stars
I first picked up this book at a book fair at a school I was working at recently. The beautiful artwork on the cover was what drew me in. As I opened the book and began to read I was very impressed with how beautiful the pages' illuistrations were. Even more beautiful were the poetic words the author uses to describe how one's name came to be "on the night you were born". I think that any child would love to hear this story before bedtime or even just cuddling with their parents. It makes the child feel special in knowing that this beautiful story describes how they came to be. As an artist I can really appreciate the illustrations that are so vibrantly painted upon each page. I would recommend this book from birth to upper elementary. It would be a great gift for new parents to read to their new child.
Book Review: Great Adoption book! Summary: 5 Stars
Nancy Tilman delightfully "celebrates the birth and worth of every wondrous child. A superb parent-and-child bedtime read-aloud."
"On the night you were born, the moon smiles with such wonder that the stars peeked in to see you and the night wind whispered, 'Life will never be the same.'
Kirkus Reviews says that it is a "beautiful tribute to the uniqueness of every child".
This is not one of those sappy, birth mother, adoption journey stories. Rather, Tilman weaves a lyrical tale every child would yearn to hear...one of their own bewitching delightfulness. Adopted or Biological, every child will love the musical poetry. Night is full of images of dancing polar bears, peeking stars, and the smiling moon.

Book Review: a message to share Summary: 5 Stars
If the message behind this book were carried further into the world around us, something tells me there'd be a lot less crime, strive, and struggling. It is a simple concept - you are amazing! you are beautiful! you are unique and incredible and perfect! It is good to truly love yourself. It's not just a children's book. Adults should take it to heart too, for we were all born as babes, all with the same beginning of life. The book instills a foundation that is so important for young ones to grow up confident and feeling complete just as they are. I first heard the book at Christmas this past year - when an adult read it to a room full of other adults. By the end of the story, half the room had tears rolling down their faces. Tears of joy.
Book Review: Another glowing review Summary: 5 Stars
My parents got this book for my daughter's 2nd birthday. Within two days, I'd read it to her over 10 times (at her request). She loved the parts where we'd say her name. She loved the part about silly, wiggly, wonderful toes (I would tickle her toes at that point.) She whispers along that "Life will never be the same." She has something on each page that she likes to point out and talk about (the illustrations are just beautiful). For over three months straight, this beat out every other book we have in our (rather extensive) library. And you know what? I didn't mind. I really loved reading a book to her that emphasised what we all feel - she is wonderful, unique, and a joyous addition to the world.
Book Review: SPECTACULAR Summary: 5 Stars
I almost cried when I read this book today after picking it up at the toy store with my two year-old daughter. This is, hands down, the best book I have ever read for a child and we read A LOT. What a beautiful and moving book. Short enough for toddlers to enjoy, sophisticated enough for a child of any age -- young or old -- to feel loved and special when it's read to them by a loving adult. I think most mommies and daddies, grandmas and grandpas, feel the way this book describes about the birth of their child/children. This would be a wonderful book for any new mom or for a birthday present to a child. I will buy this book for every child I know and for every baby shower I attend. Enough said.
