Book Reviews of Odd ThomasBook Review: Wow! Summary: 5 Stars
This is the first Dean Koontz book that I've read and I absolutely LOVED IT! This book started me reading many of his other books. Odd Thomas is a fry cook in the small town of Pico Mundo, along with his girlfriend Stormy. Odd is a little strange, he sees ghost and is compelled to help them move on to the other side. The whole cast of characters in Odd Thomas is very well developed and you really care what happens to them. The plot is fantastic, and unpredictable (in a good way, keeps you guessing till the end) This is a must read for those who like supernatural thriller/mystery.
Book Review: Refreshing Summary: 5 Stars
Odd Thomas is one of those rare books that artfully marry suspense, humor and writing as cripse as a new morning into one perfect package. Told in a pleasant first-person voice, the story unfolds to reveal a remarkably human character who can see the dead, but not talk to them. There is no pretense here; Odd tries to stop tragedy before it happens yet makes the mistakes that anyone else in his place might do. His tender relationship with his girlfriend, Stormy, and the harrowed and strained moments with his parents are perhaps some of the best moments modern novels can provide.
Book Review: An odd one indeed... Summary: 5 Stars
Koontz is back, and he is at the top of his game. Intricate plot, a strange but intriging protagonist, and as always, interesting and unique characters that are very well developed. Who wouldn't be intriuged by a character by the name 'fungus man'? As always, Koontz's characters are brilliantly interwoven into the plot to create comical and suspensful dialog. And hey, even Elvis makes an appearence or two (yes, the King is back). What more could you ask for? All in all, I'm a little suprised by the ratings on this one. I thought this was an interesting and exciting read.
Book Review: Full of mysteries Summary: 5 Stars
Odd Thomas must have been one of the most interesting books i have ever read. It was full of non-stop cliffhangers and so many different ways to interpret the book. The ending was of course the best part of the book. With an amazing finish anything besides five starts is a disgrace. The characters are so interesting and the main character is such a mystery. After every other page it is hard to put the book down just by the mere fact that you will have no clue at what will happen next. I assure you choosing to read this book will be to your advantage.
Book Review: Horror Fans Might NOt Be As Thrilled But ... Summary: 5 Stars
This was a great book with characters that had depth and a real feel to them. The style of writing (narrated by Odd himself) was perfect for this novel and although I am not sure if it fit better in horror or fantasy (more like something in between) it was a great read. I hope he can continue the level of interest in the following works in this series. I highly recommend it for those who don't want a ton of gore and sex, but just a really good story with the requisite amount of everything. Oh, and you will love the appearances by the ghost of Elvis :)
