Book Reviews of Odd Thomas

Book Review: Odd, is different!
Summary: 5 Stars

As a relatively new fan of Dean Koontz for roughly a year and having eight of his books under my belt, I can say that Odd Thomas shows a side of Koontz that readers of his earlier novels wouldn't recognize. It always is a challenge to read a book written in the first person because most authors cannot pull it off, but Koontz does so delightfully in this edition. It is rare that a book will evoke such a wide range of emotions that this one does, from literally laughing out loud several times to sobbing uncontrollably at one point. For whatever reason, this book read "faster" than most any other....150 pages would go by more rapidly than you wanted! After finishing it, it is wonderful to know that there are two more "Odd" novels!

Book Review: Give the nod to Odd!
Summary: 5 Stars

There are many in-depth reviews for this work and I'll not go into detail of the plot. This is just a quick nod of support for this book which I enjoy so much.

In plot-driven paranormal novels, rarely does a character come along like Odd Thomas. While it might take a bit to acclimate with his diction, the smiles his thoughts will bring you is well worth the effort. The character is so aptly drawn that he feels real.

This is a story that takes many twists and turns and ends with a climax that will not disappoint. The ending leaves the reader wanting more (so Mr. Koontz has continued the series) but nothing will ever top this original Odd.

Book Review: The best Koontz has EVER done
Summary: 5 Stars

I don't believe I've ever given Koontz a five star rating before. I loved 'Lightning' and 'Phantoms', even newer books like 'The Husband'. This is above and beyond all of his previous works. I've been wanting to read John Saul's 'Nathaniel' for a while and have it right here but I also have 'Forever Odd' and I tell you as soon as I finished 'Odd Thomas' I put 'Nathaniel' back on the shelf and started 'Forever Odd'. I don't want to spoil this for anyone who hasn't read it yet but one thing separates this from other Koontz books, the heroes don't come out in a barrage of bullets into glory. Just amazing, can't wait to read the other 3 books

Book Review: I love Odd
Summary: 5 Stars

This is an amazing book. Once I started reading this book I couldn't put it down just like all the other books by Dean Koontz. He keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout the whole book. Love the perfect balance between love and action. I think this is such a good idea. I love how Dean explains his ideas for his books thoroughly and do not just leave you hanging. Every time I finish another one of his books, he has me thinking...it could happen. Odd Thomas is my favorite character that Dean has created. This is the first book that has ever had me so involved that I actually cried. This book is definitely a must buy and a must read.

Book Review: What an interesting protagonist Odd is!
Summary: 5 Stars

Book 1 is my favorite Odd Thomas book, to-date. Awesome story with a memorable character. I thought about Odd long after I put the book down, and it definitely made me want to read more. I started on Forever Odd (book 2) the same evening.

Dean Koontz has created a very interesting character and some witty dialogue and humor. While it might not be as dark as most of his other works, Odd Thomas has an eerie foreshadowing that really works. You have to keep reading to find out what happens.

I must start book 4 soon...
