Book Review: Beautiful photos, evocative subject matter

With this collection, Martin R. Class brings a refreshing degree of technical mastery to the often maligned fetish and pin-up genres. The photos aren't pornography--there's not one pair of spread legs to be found in this book--but nevertheless, the images carry an intense erotic charge. Connoisseurs and newcomers to this subject matter alike will find much to enjoy in this book.
About a third of the images in Obsession portray well-worn but still piquant erotic tropes--models posed on a rumpled bed, in a cast iron tub and, most memorably, stretched across a boardroom table. There's a more unusual and tantalizing narrative at work through the bulk of Class's images, though, as a series of leggy beauties in exotic outfits pose seductively in a variety of desolate, stripped-down locales. Who are these post-apocalyptic pin-ups and what arcane, sexualized rituals are they performing in these neglected attics and abandoned cellars? The viewer can only imagine, but as the models' rapt expressions indicate, it's the end of the world as we know it, and they feel fine.
This is an imaginative, beautiful and exciting collection. Highly recommended.

It's a question that can be answered with another question: Is the world bored with nature yet? The definite answer is a clear No.The work of Martin Raphael Class engages the female form, nude, dressed, bound in fetish sub-genres or elegantly posed. These images combine a comforting nostalgia combined with darker, more introverted mood.
