Book Reviews of Now, Discover Your StrengthsBook Review: Human Interaction: the Next Generation Summary: 5 Stars
I read the book in 3 days! Fascinating new approach into human interaction. A whole new way for people to relate to others and mostly to understand their own strengths. The concept of themes is fascinating and the StrengthsFinder test has helped me understand why I am drawn to certain tasks - not for the task itself, but for the underlying talent I am able to use, develop and master. As I read through all the 34 themes, I started to see those around me in a whole new way - all a sudden their behavior and quirks started making sense! Talents and strengths started emerging and with the help of the section on how to manage people by theme, I can now improve my interaction with others - even in a non-business setting. This book will not tell you which job or field to choose, however, by knowing your major themes, it is easier to choose something that is in-line with your true self. With this strength-based concept, interpersonal relations as a whole are tremendously enhanced, not to mention the potential for more effective human management within corporations. Overall, an excellent and fascinating read, and a wonderful self-knowledge tool.
Book Review: Teaches you how to maximize your full potential Summary: 5 Stars
In their new book, authors Marcus Buckingham and Donald O. Clifton suggest that we tend to focus on what needs to be "fixed" with ourselves. Then, they demonstrate how fluid and successful life is when we set aside our shortcomings and truly leverage our own strengths. The book illustrates how knowing your personal strengths, and recognizing the strengths of those around you, can help you build a dynamic and successful organization, network, or team.
An even bigger BONUS is that you get a personal code for an online survey that identifies YOUR "top- five inborn talents"! This benefit is worth every penny you spend on the book! Identifying your top 5 strengths will change the way you look at life. This assessment is unique from the many other assessments out there (i.e. Myers-Briggs, DISC, etc.). With the "strengths" information in hand, you will be able to apply the theories presented in the book on a day-to-day basis.
I HIGHLY recommend this book: it is a refreshing concept that moves you forward by focusing on the positive and teaching you how to maximize your full potential!
Book Review: Find your strengths and put them to work for you! Summary: 5 Stars
In an ocean full of bigger fish it can be difficult to stop living on the offense and consider our own strengths. How will you stand out amongst the other 200 people at that job interview if you yourself have no idea what your strengths are? And if you don't know what you are good at, are you applying for the best job for yourself in the first place?
`Now Discover Your Strengths' is the follow up to Buckingham's previous book `Break all the Rules'. This book focused on identifying and using your natural talents. Rather than working on overcoming weakness, which serves to create focus on what we are not good at, `Now Discover Your Strengths' teaches us to work on our strengths. In fact, to build our lives around them.
Once your strengths are identified it becomes much easier to find a fulfilling career that will continue to last - after all, you'll be doing something you're good at!

Book Review: How Focused are Your Strengths? Summary: 5 Stars
Beginning with the national bestsellers, First, Break All the Rules and Now, Discover Your Strengths, Marcus Buckingham is on a single-minded quest to focus on unique abilities that energize and sustain top performance. It's a philosophy that works for high performing teams as well: focus on and leverage the strengths people bring to a team. People on high performance teams report they call upon their strengths more than 75 percent of the time. More importantly, "a good team member deliberately volunters his strengths to the team most of the time." Buckingham contends that when you "pull this lever [focus your strengths], an engaged and productive team will be the result. Fail to pull it, and no matter what else is done to motivate the team, it'll never fully engage. It will never become a high performance team." How can you tell? Buckingham provides a "dial" to show how engaged an individual's strengths are and, when combined, an entire team's strengths. He also shares a very practical, six week action plan to identify and play to peoples' strengths. How cook is that?
Book Review: Discover your talent and strengths Summary: 5 Stars
The problem with our society and our working environment is that we focus too much on correcting our weakness instead of focusing on the strength. This is partly due to our education system and our upbringing. We have trained ourselves to get well-rounded and become mediocre.
This book convinced us that we should focus our energy and efforts on developing our strength. However, we shouldn't ignore our weaknesses; we should work on our weaknesses so that it could not undermine our strength.
The book explains further the different between talent, knowledge and skills. It also explores how we could identify our talent.
The most important reason to own this book is to use the online strength test provided in the book which could help you identify your talents.
The last part of this book examines how we should manage our talents and develop them into strength. It also explains how organization should utilize the potential of their employees and build the company into a strength-based organization.
