Book Review: Charming and witty

Regular viewers of Top Gear will know, and most likely love, the humourous, witty, insightful, and creative James "Captain Slow" May. His target of always being slightly useless, his paunch, his obvious love for all things technical and mechanical all shines through in this collection of columns from over the years.
His writing style is a bit different from that of his much famed Top Gear co presenter, Jeremy Clarkson, in that it is a bit more diplomatic and understated. His claims are by no means any less outrageous or controversial, they are merely presented by joking and talking rather than shouting. Although May may not be a wordsmith of the highest ranks, he is still very good with all that taking one and putting it after another word and then making it sound funny and all the rest of it.
The greatest thing about is, that you don't even have to be a full blown petrolhead to like and understand this book. Even if you've only got a foggy idea that a car might be something with wheels and bits of glass in them, you'd still enjoy the writings and musings of the inimitable Captain Slow.
The columns in the book date back quite a while, which when you know it doesn't really matter, but if you don't might make it seem a bit dated. So be hereby warned.
