Book Reviews of No One Here Gets Out AliveBook Review: Very thorough... Summary: 4 Stars
This book has been reviewed many times, so I will just add my little bit. As others have stated, this is not an objective view of Jim Morrison's life. It wasn't supposed to be. It's a memorial to his life.
The book does a very good job of that. It covers his young life, the formation of the band, and the life of the band well. The look at the last few months in Paris was very interesting. That era has always been shrouded in mystery.
All in all, this isn't the greatest book ever on the Doors. It does a good job at chronicling the life of Jim Morrison, though.
Book Review: As a casual Doors fan: OK by me Summary: 4 Stars
I'm no expert on The Doors or Jim Morrison, but this was an engaging read that tried to show a softer side of a man who lived to life's extremes.
I also realize that I am reading this biography 20 years after the fact and that the book was written 15+ years after his death, but to gain a general understanding of who Jim Morrison was this book did the job.
I wouldn't have paid more than the $5.00 I did for it, but if you can find it cheap, pick it up.
Book Review: No One Gets Out Alive Summary: 4 Stars
This is a good read - of course any information obtained regarding Jim Morrison is okay w/me as I am trying to learn all I can about the man. This bio goes into some depth of events and character profile but it's not a book I can't put down as was w/Ray Manzarek's "Light MY Fire". If you are a Morrison fan read this - lots of interesting details - you can't go wrong.
Book Review: Shipping took too long! Summary: 4 Stars
I purchased this as a Christmas gift for a friend on 12/16...I didn't recieve it until after Christmas. For it only being a book I thought it would have gotten here much sooner!
Book Review: I heart JIM Summary: 4 Stars
I loved this book! To me Jim Morrison was a great poet ahead of his time. This book shared great stories of his drug and alcohol induced debaucheries.
