Book Reviews of No Limits: The Will to SucceedBook Review: Olympic Gold! Book Bronze. Summary: 3 Stars
The average sports fan will likely be disappointed with this book. It is at times very interesting and occasionally inspirational. Unlike Michael's swimming, this book is not a smooth, easy read. Unless you are a diehard swimfan or aspiring competitve swimmer, you may find yourself sinking under the statistics and scattered story lines. One last downer is the title. I picked it up, glanced at the title that seemed extremely cliche, and I thought perhaps I should put the book back on the shelf. In hindsight, I should have left it on the shelf.
Book Review: Nonfiction Is Hot Summary: 3 Stars
Teens read nonfiction, too, if it's interesting! My daughter loved watching Phelps at the Olympics, so this was a natural gift choice. To help your child appreciate all genres, buy fiction AND nonfiction in areas of interest.
Book Review: Not much New Here. Summary: 2 Stars
I did not find this book that captivating. I found the story one-dimensional and after a few chapters, predictable. The story is an in-depth account of everything professional swimming. If you are into that then you may like this book. I have nothing against professional swimming and agree that Phelps is an extraordinary athlete but there was too much techie swim info" for me. There are few personal antidotes and each chapter seems not that different from the one before.
