Book Reviews of Nikon D200 Digital Field Guide

Book Review: What do you want for $12.99? -- This book!
Summary: 5 Stars

I agree that this book is an amazing bargain at the price. My expectations weren't stratospheric when I ordered this, because how much can you fit into a 250 page book priced so modestly. I was certainly surprised! This is a full-color book, with hundreds of great illustrations, and information that is absolutely first-rate.

The approach really works for me. Most of the book is occupied by descriptions of the D200 camera and its features, with explanations of how to use the most important controls. There is a chapter on lenses and lighting, and others on setup and customizing your settings. Very little on software, which I like. This is all crammed into a book that fits inside larger camera bags so you can take it with you when you need it.

If you understand exactly what this book is intended to do, and what it is not intended to do, you'll agree that it does a very good job indeed. Nikon D200 owners who don't have the time to wade through the manual that is supplied with the camera will find this a great resource.

Book Review: Review of the Nikon D200 Digital Field Guide
Summary: 5 Stars

This is the first review I have offered for a book on Amazon, but I felt compelled to comment on the excellent quality of this Nikon D200 Digital Field Guide. Although I am new to photography, I felt that the D200 offered the most features for the money and I purchased it, not really knowing how to use the camera.

I got this book the same day. It has helped me learn about the camera very quickly, particularly all the buttons and dials that can easily confuse a new owner. There is also a large amount of information on photography with the D200, and examples of the types of photos you can take with it. I feel the length of this book is just right. It contains all that you must understand about the D200 camera, and additional information that will be of value once you have had more experience with the camera. It is a perfect match for the fine camera.

Book Review: Pure meat.
Summary: 5 Stars

Unlike the reviewer who uses a Spanish obscenity for his user name, I have read this book, and find it to be filled with solid information. The reviewer apparently gets his jollies from trashing authors, as all four of his reviews offer ridiculous criticisms of best-selling books.

On the other hand, I have actually purchased and read this book, and find it to be filled with useful information about the Nikon D200. It's clear, concise, and provides complete explanations of the D200's controls, menus settings, and features, along with advice on how to use this advanced camera to best advantage.

I enjoyed this author's earlier book on the D70, and now that I have upgraded to the D200 I am glad that a similar book with more depth has been made available for my new camera. If you own the D200, you need this book.

Book Review: OMG! THIS needs to be the manual!
Summary: 5 Stars

You guys! This book is a MUST have for all D200 owners that are new to the dslr game. Even if you are familiar with dslr's, it still would be an asset to have this book. The manual that came with my D200 might as well have been in is very hard to understand and very confusing unless you have had an extensive education in photography and know all of the lingo. I carry this book wherever I go. The reason I bought it is because of the reviews here on amazon.com. You HAVE to buy this book. No ifs and or buts......I bought it used and it came to me looking brand new. This is the second book by David Busch I bought about the dslr game, and I reccomend "Quick Snap Guide to Digital SLR Photography" by David Busch. Both books are a MUST if you don't know, but want to know about DSLR photography.

Book Review: Excellent for amateur photographers!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this book along with the magic lantern guide for D200 because reviews were very confusing and I wanted to find out for myself which book is better. I am an amateur photographer so I want to know more about the camera and the tricks it can do. Right from its presentation of the camera's format I find this book more appealing to read. I find the tips on various shooting modes and events much more interesting. The Magic Lantern guide book to me was like a better version of the manual that comes with the camera. Overall, I would suggest this book as better than the magic lantern. While I am interested to know how to use the camera I also wanted to know how best to use it in different situations and this book has a good balance of both! If you are an amateur photographer GET THIS BOOK!
