Book Review: Not nearly as good at the first

The first half of this book was fantastic. The second half sucked.
SPOILERS BEGIN...
When Edward left and Bella was devastated, I loved how the author wrote out the months as if they were chapters... October... November... etc. I thought that was so poignant.
I loved how Bella and Jacob's relationship matured. How Jacob became a "Man" figure instead of a boy. And I kept thinking, doesn't Bella get that they way she feels about Jacob (relaxed, happy, secure) was the signs of real love? The way she feels about Edward (in awe, mesmerized, unable to believe he would be interested in her) is infatuation. I think this probably appeals to young female readers, but to an adult, it was disappointing. In 5 years she will wish she was with Jacob.
The second half of the book, when she has to go and save Edward was just ridiculous. It bored me and I only kep reading because I was hoping Jacob would come back into the picture. And once Bella witnesses how the Italian vampires "eat", I was amazed she still wanted to be a vampire. Didn't she see that that was what she would become???
SPOILERS END.
Well, for a HS girl, this is a fun novel. For an adult, only so-so.
