Book Reviews of NationBook Review: World Turned Upside Down Summary: 5 Stars
When I asked about the book my friend Jim said, "you will only think that it has been a shame that Pterry has spent so much time writing in Diskword". Sure enough; what he presents is a thought provoking book about civilization, life, faith, companionship and human instinct. I do miss DEATH, but there are footnotes like only Pterry can write.
Book Review: When much is taken, something is returned Summary: 5 Stars
For Pratchett fans familiar with his personal struggles, this book is a comfort and a joy. It's not about him of course - it's about life and death, history and future, old men and young children and the existence of God. In other words, it's about all of us. There are no storybook endings here but the real endings are even more satisfying.
Book Review: Exellent book by an excellent author Summary: 5 Stars
I hope this book becomes required reading in High Schools across the country. I can't write enough accolades for this book. It just has to be read.
There is humor, adventure, philosophy, anthropology, religion...all kinds of big issues.
This is a book that makes people think, and I highly recommend it.
Book Review: It Takes Courage To Remake A Nation Summary: 5 Stars
A young man is the lone survivor of his island tribe "The Nation" due to a tidal wave in the S. Pacific. He shows courage, intelligence and compassion in overcoming his despair and lack of knowledge. Others are drawn to his island and he must now care for them. Great book. Inspirational without being sappy.
Book Review: What a lovely book Summary: 5 Stars
This was a wonderful book. Very thought provoking with enough humor to be enjoyable. Not the laugh til you cry type, as I consider discworld to be, but well written, unique and marvelous. I don't think I would classify it as young adult. I see no reason why it wouldn't be enjoyable to all ages.
