I remember watching this pair when they were competing. I wasn't an ice dancing fan, but they were so incredible to watch, I started watching any competition they were in. When Sergei died, I was devastated for Ekaterina. When her book came out, I read it, and cried all the way through. But really, it isn't a sad ending. I find it to be very inspirational to see how Ekaterina faced the worst that could happen, and came out on the other side with a wonderful attitude and will to go on. It is now 12 years later, and this book STILL makes me cry, and still inspires me.Book Review: A Truly Inspirational Book

I recently finished reading "My Sergei," and I'm sure I will read it again and again. The book was so touching and inspirational, and I couldn't put it down. I was moved at the courage Katia expresses. The book is full of so many emotions, and I got hooked on the love story of Sergei and Katia, and I cried when it came time for Katia to say goodbye to Sergei and then become strong once again for Daria's sake. I recommend this book to anyone who likes love stories. You will be touched, inspired, and intrigued by this wonderful book. I know I was.Book Review: Very heart moving, a true fairy tale

I vividly remember when Katia skated to Madonna's "I'll remember" after Sergi's tragic death. I couldn't get the sad images out of my head. When this book came out, I had to know more about Sergi and Katia's relationship. Upon starting the book I was captivated by how easily she expressed her love and admiration of Sergi. With a nice blend of Russian Culture weaved in to the romance between the two athletes this story gives the reader a tender insight into their lives as Russians, figure-skaters, athletes, olympians, friends, lovers and parents.Book Review: It is a story of passion and love for life, love and skating

I was astounded by the compelling nature of this book. It was written with all sincerity and not manipulation or affectatious sentiment. It weaves two tales; one that tells of growing up in the Soviet sport system of elite athletes and the other of two people who found love, friendship and romance. Ekaterina Gordeava has chosen well which parts of her life to focus and she has done so with a depth and maturity that defies the hackneyed writing of romance "authors" whose formulatic bilge fills used book bins by the hundreds of thousands.
