It is a very interesting book. It talks about a boy named Tim who has trouble deciding if he was a tory or patriot.His brother goes to war as apatriot and leaves his family in danger by taking the brown bess from them. Tim hasn't experienced war yet, but he knows that his family are tories.His family makes there annual trip to verplanks point. He betrays his father to help Mr.Heron to deliever a letter. He meets cowboys who hate Tories. THey almost get killed. on the way back his father gets ambushed and gets set on a British prison ship and dies of chorela.War haa finally come to Redding ,Tim's home town. The British take the Rebel leaders and kill them.Later a execution is held at Redding. they were going to kill Sam.Book Review: revolutionary greatness

This book talks about a boy named Tim Meeker who always likes his brother until now. It is approaching the Revolutionary War and Tim's father is a Loyalist, but Tim's brother, Sam, is a Patriot. His brother goes to fight for the Americans but Tim wants to join also. Tim is torn between beliefs. But surprising events led up to the death of Sam Meeker.
I really liked this book. At some times it was a little boring but it had a lot of action in the little town of Redding. Many exciting events and a very good narrative of the Revolutionary War. I hope you will enjoy this book as much as I did. ***** Five Stars!

The story is about a boy named Tim Meeker and how he looses most of his family because of war and a feud between his brother and his father because, Tim's brother wants to go to war. In the book it talks about how Tim's brother runs away. The brother comes back in the middle of the book and he finds out what happens to his dad. As you go along in the book Tim's brother goes to jail for a crime he never committed. Another thing that happens in the book is how Tim gets shot in the arm trying to save his brother Sam. At the end of the book something unexpected happens, but you have to read it to find out.Book Review: A Challenge of Loyalties

The strength of this book is that it serves an excellent example of the divisions between Loyalists, Patriots, and those stuck in between. Tim Meeker's loyalties are challenged by the traditional attitudes of his Loyalist father and the Rebellious nature of his older Patriot brother, Sam. There are many examples of eighteenth century life to initiate young readers; there are also examples of indifference and injustice prominent in this turbulent part of our history. An easy and interesting read; an excellent companion to non-fiction books of this period.
