Book Reviews of My Big Girl PottyBook Review: This is what did it Summary: 5 Stars
DD found this book at the library and wanted it read to her CONSTANTLY, around the time she seemed to be getting interested/willing to try the potty. She liked it so much I went and bought her her own copy.
She enjoyed other potty books/videos, especially "Once Upon a Potty", but for some reason this one seemed to be the one that did it for her and made the whole idea click.
I think it's well-written and nicely illustrated. Kids can easily identify with the pictures and with the few false starts that Ashley has on the potty, and the questions asked help draw them into the story as it's being read.
DD is 4 now and has been potty-trained for over a year, but still likes to re-read the book on occasion.
I've given it to friends who are going through the potty-training stage, and they've all been happy with it too.
Book Review: Best potty book! Summary: 5 Stars
This is the best potty book I have seen! My daughter LOVES it and easily relates to little Ashley, the main character. We originally found this book at our local library, and after checking it out a few times, it became obvious we needed our own copy. The story gives just the right amount of detail for each step in the potty-training process, very matter-of-factly but without being unnecessarily graphic. We keep it next to the potty so Mommy or Daddy can read while my daughter sits on the potty. She gets very excited seeing Ashley open the box to find her new potty and ultimately becoming successful at using it. For children in daycare, I also recommend "When Mommy & Daddy Go To Work" by the same author & illustrator, and have added "When You Were Inside Mommy" to my wish list for later on!
Book Review: Great Service/nice book! Summary: 5 Stars
I received this book so quickly from Pizzazz; it was excellent and prompt service. The book was in great condition-new. As a plus, the seller personally handwrote a small 'thank you' note on the order form along with a nice handmade (very cute) lamanated bookmark as a value added bonus. These may seem like small things but in a face paced and not always so personal world, I think it's wonderful to have such great and personalized service. Nice job. Also my kids really enjoy the book and they want me to read it repetitively; I also have the "Big Boy Potty" book--both are nicely written and the illustrations are very cute. Highly recommend this book for little children to enjoy and learn from!
Book Review: SHE DID IT! Summary: 5 Stars
I wanted to update my review from September 14,2000 to let everyone know that I read this book to my daughter - at her request! - every afternoon at naptime and every night at bedtime. Last week, October 4, 2000 she was officially "trained" - consistently using the potty. She's had two accidents, but loves her "big girl" underpants. She still asks me to read "My Big Girl Potty" every night, but now she interjects - "I do that" or "I'm a big girl" - throughout. As I said before this is a gentle introduction to potty training that really worked for us. Thank you.
Book Review: Gentle Introduction for Parent and Child Summary: 5 Stars
I read this book to my daughter for the first time last night. She pointed to all the pictures, and acknowledged the meaning/purpose of each. She's just starting to "train" and she is very reluctant to try at home. She's being "pushed" at preschool, and I think that this is adding to her reluctance. The reason I selected this book over countless others is because it has easy to read and understand copy and the illustrations are sweet without being "cartoony" or too grownup. I feel very sure that this book will help us both.
