Book Reviews of Murder Machine (Onyx)

Book Review: At last, a veiw of the mob from a different angle! GREAT!
Summary: 5 Stars

Reading most Mafia books thes days can be quite monotonous, repetative and cliche. Pinky rings, expensive suits, Capo di tutti Capis, classy Cadillacs, another coupe de grace, and so on and so on and so on. THIS IS NOT ONE OF THOSE BOOKS!!!!!!! Its focus is on the rise and fall of a small crew that grew from small time car theifs to big time gangsters. For once we get a close look at mobsters at the bottom and in the middle of a family instead of the tedious stories of yet another Godfather. It reads easily, and for not one moment does it bore. It also develops the characters beyond a paper thin description. We actually see a human side of life in the Mafia, rather than the people involved being just Hoodlums. The authors seemed to have put effort into making sure you see these men as men, who sometimes are genuinely good people or sometimes heartless cold blooded killers. ENGROSSING, UNBELIEVABLE. A TOP NOTCH READ!

Book Review: The best true account of Mob life yet written
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a must read for anyone that wants to know how the mob really works and the sociopaths that it employs to run its multi billion dollar businesses. Every page of this book rings true, the Italian American family structure, the insular Brooklyn neighborhoods of Carnarsie and Bensonhurst from the 1950s through 1970s, the sociopaths that emerged from them, The Mafia cast structure and Machiavellian alliances that are formed and discarded as business needs and law enforcement activities dictate. The seedy, drug taking , uneducated hoods that populate this book are the real thing. They are not Tony Soprano, or Don Corleone, they are not even the cleaned up Joe Pesci character "Tommy Desomme" from "Goodfellows". Martin Scorsese or Francis Ford Coppola would have a very difficult time making them appear funny or romantic. They are about as funny or romantic as Ted Bundy.

Book Review: murder machine delivers!
Summary: 5 Stars

murder machine, one of the better mafia books, does it's job of explicitly recounting the murderous trail of the roy deMeo crew.a street gang that later turned into new york's hitmen, the mafia's hitmen.dominick montiglio opens up to the authors about his life in the mafia and his gangster uncle, nino gaggi.murder machine tells the story of roy deMeo and his crew of killers.deMeo, desperate to be a made man, starts killing for the mafia's top bosses.he soon grows used to the feeling and kills for insignificant reasons, with no remorse.Even though dominick montiglio doesnt kill anyone,he grows tired of the life he's leading and decides to leave his past without success.Without revealing much,id say murder machine is a really great book.a book that keeps you on your toes till the last page.murder, betrayal, drugs, and more murder await you in this book!

Book Review: Murder DeMeo Style
Summary: 5 Stars

What an unbelievably shocking account of how one faction of the Gambino crime family functioned in their heyday. I had a very hard time putting this book down once I started!

I have the utmost respect for both authors' writing & reporting -however I was surprised that alot of the "insider" information came from just one source, Dominic Montiglio. I still wonder if his involvement was as "arm's length away" as it seems to be in the book. All in all, a page turning experience as the DeMeo crew gets more and more out of control.

In an excellent, stark contrast to this book, I strongly recommend reading Albert DeMeo's book, "For the Sins of My Father". Albert is the son of the notorious Roy DeMeo. You won't believe that you're reading about the same man in each book.

Book Review: Cant belive it if I diden`t know it was true
Summary: 5 Stars

I read this book and I can not belive that there are people like this that go about it like you go to work to drive a bus or something,It was very scary and grafic, but knowing its true I couldent put it down, Im about to read it again and would highly recomemd it.Growing up in BKLYN people such as these are everywhere, they are your friends neighbors, even brothers of your friends. Its been my experience that you never know who they realy are because the ones who advertise it are usally pee ons.

I wish Jerry Capeci would do follow up books about these people to find out what they are doing now, or where they are, if they are still alive the ones who survived.I would like to see a movie made with this book keept intact so the movie is just like the book ,no change in the story.
