Another winner from Robert Munsch!
The book features the usual dose of Munsch's sound effects and repetition, two traits that make it an engaging story for young readers. We read this story again and again to our 2-year-old. He just can't get enough.
My one criticism of the book is that Munsch's drawings of the Asian Canadian characters isn't that flattering. Being Asian American, I think I'm probably more sensitive to this though... :)

One day little Samuel wakes up with a big appetite. After eating cereal, milkshakes, pancakes, and a fried chicken, he's still hungry--so he enters a pie-eating contest in the park. His competition? Three big men! The pies? One apple, two peach, and three cherry. And the winner? Samuel! But before he can show his Prize Pie to his mother, she proudly shows off the lovely pie that she's made him for lunch!
