Book Reviews of Moosewood Restaurant New Classics

Book Review: my favorite cookbook to give
Summary: 5 Stars

I work seasonally as a family style chef, and use this cookbook constantly. When I get in a rut, I open it up and always find something new and intriguing to try. My copy is dog-eared and covered with notes where I have altered or expanded the recipes, or written my own in the margins. I have taken to buying this book for my assistants, budding chefs all, so they don't have to hand copy a dozen recipes. Great desserts and breads, and a training manual for flavor combinations. If you're not vegetarian or "fishetarian," a lot of the recipes can be used as side dishes. Highly recommended.

Book Review: Vegetarian Yumminess for the whole family!
Summary: 5 Stars

This book has been a mainstay in my kitchen for years. I have two young children and they can be difficult to cook for. I have had nothing but sucess from all the recipes we have tried in this book and we have made most of them ! Many of the recipes are versatile enough to change up to accomodate what is on hand in the kitchen. I am a working Mother and Full Time Student and this book has made the chore that cooking can sometimes be..into a soul satisfying experience. I recommend it for anyone. Our particular favorites are the soups and breads/desserts.

Book Review: My favorite vegetarian cookbook!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this book only 2 weeks ago and have tried more than a dozen recipes. The recipes are innovative, eclectic, and very easy and delicious. I had recently become a vegetarian and the book has made it fun and exciting. The tofu salad is excellent, so are the roasted winter veggies, the sweet patato pancakes, oatmeal-banana pancakes, the Tilghman Island Stew, valle d'Aosta cabbage soups, etc. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in some new ways of making vegetarian cuisine that are inspired by a variety of ethnic traditions.

Book Review: Great Introduction to Vegetarianism
Summary: 5 Stars

I was first introduced to this cookbook about the same time I started to be more thoughtful about what I ate. I really like that it runs the gamut from fish dishes all the way to totally vegan. As an almost vegan (I dig honey!), I gave a copy of this book to my future mother in law when she expressed interest in limiting her own meat intake.

I have yet to find a recipe in this book I don't like (provided I can eat it at all). Their vegan pie crust is great, I love the vegan cake and sometimes I just read through for ideas.

Book Review: Good for a change
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this cookbook after spending a week at a retreat where the food was exclusively vegetarian. I wanted to expand my own vegetarian cooking I looked at a lot of cookbooks and, while I would have preferred the original Moosewood Cookbook, I find this one to be very useful and I use it a lot. I like it so much I sent a copy to my daughter.
