Book Reviews of Microsoft Expression WebBook Review: It is OK Summary: 3 Stars
At times this book leaves something unexplained. It might just be me but I was not overly impressed with the book and the way it presented the material. I did learn some things by reading it so gave it a three.
Book Review: Just what it claims to be Summary: 3 Stars
If you have never used Expression Web or FrontPage, this book will get you started. If you have, for any period of time, it will tell you nothing new.
Book Review: Not much meat on the bones Summary: 2 Stars
A very basic and surprisingly superficial introduction to Microsoft Expression Web. This sparse book offers no depth with regard to the more sophisticated capabilities of the application. In fact, it ignores them entirely which might lead one to believe that the program is vastly inferior to competitors such as Dreamweaver when, in fact, it is not.
The book doesn't purport to be about web design and it most certainly is not.
In some ways, it feels like the author stretched things just to fill pages. For example, creating headings, using the standard HTML tags receives a page as does creating lsits, which is nothing more than a paragraph and two lines of instructions. The same treatment is given to inserting a horizontal line. Another full page is devoted to using CTRL-Z to paste text. No, I am not making this up.
Overall, this book does little more than review the menus of Expression Web and miscellaneous points. It does go into a little detail on CSS, but not enough to really explain it to a usable point.
Atypically poor for a Visual Quickstart Guide, I would suggest you consider carefully the reviews on other offerings.

Book Review: Adequate book, bad index, key issues glossed over Summary: 2 Stars
An adequate book, let down by a bad index that is inadequate, missing many key subjects, not cross-indexed and looks like it was compiled on someone's kitchen table at 3 o'clock in the morning. The section on publishing your website is next door to useless and glosses over things like FTP addresses, so don't expect to publish successfully if this book is all you have. CSS styles are confusingly explained from the point of view of an expert making many assumptions, and will take much re-reading and experimentation if you are new to the subject. The book is still usable, but overall it shows how hard it is for anyone steeped in this subject to write a book that is clear and simple to others.
Book Review: Too basic - No thelpful enough Summary: 2 Stars
I was totally new to using Expression Web. So I purchased this title to see if it would help. After the first two chapters I decided the book was a waste of time, and not really all that helpful. Showing screens is one thing, but not really explaining details is what is sorely lacking in the book.I also thought the illustrated screens were too small, more than likely causing eye-strain for the elderly.
