Book Reviews of Merriam-Webster's Vocabulary BuilderBook Review: An Excellent way to improve vocabulary and learning skills. Summary: 5 Stars
I have not attended college yet and needed a book to improve my vocabulary. I decided to buy this book and it is excellent. It includes quizzes and interesting information on the words and roots of words. It is also small, versatile, and a neat green color that is nice to look at. I have gone through the whole book, but have not had a chance to really absorb it, but I think after I have done so I will be able to really understand more and express myself in a whole new perspective. Thank you Marriam. Sincerely, Dusin Whitaker
Book Review: Painless way to learn Summary: 5 Stars
This is something that can be read from cover to cover. It lacks the boring humdrum that most other Vocabulary building books inevitably contain. Author Mary Wood Cornog uses a very successful method; she defines, in understandable language, Latin roots that make up most of the English language. Knowing these Latin roots simplifies the English language to an undescribable degree. With self-tests at the end of each section, this book is also interactive. I was surprised at how many words I understood after reading this book.
Book Review: I love this book! Summary: 5 Stars
I was lucky enough to get this book as a grab bag gift. I love it. I have learned so much about the origins of words and find myself using new words all the time.
Granted, it is not Dan Brown's DaVinci Code, and can be dry reading at times.
But overall it is a wonderful book chock full of very interesting and educational information. Highly recommended. A copy of this book will join my favorite dictionary and thesaurus.
