Book Review: Nice compositions... a good buy
Summary: 4 Stars
Andrew York's compositions make optimal use of the wide range of colors available through the classical guitar. The three pieces contained in this book are no exception. The technical requirements for playing these pieces are not insurmountable for an intermediate-level player such as myself. The pieces have practiced my legato and harmonics capabilities to their limit. What's more, these are contemporary compositions that add a bit of "hipness" to one's typical classical guitar repertoire. In summary they're fun to play.
I was a bit skeptical of the Mel Bay association at first, as I'd imagine many classical guitarists would be. Not to fear. The compositions are presented and annotated as I'd imagine Andrew York intended.
